Over the international break West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has had a long time to chew over the defeat by Southampton.
As the Hammers prepare to face Hull City on Monday night, the manager spoke to the media about bedding in new signings such as Morgan Amalfitano, Mo Diame's departure and Alex Song's fashion sense...
Can you explain your pleasure about signing Morgan Amalfitano and how much more goals do you think you can get out of him? When were you first interested in him?
SA: "I think it's his overall play really, not just from his time at West Brom, but also his time at Marseille where he's played Champions League football. Morgan has been in and around the top of the French league for a few years now. I spoke to Steve Clarke about him. I think he's a creator that can contribute a few goals.
"If we can get a few mor

West Ham United's Mauro Zarate is happy to be back in English football with the Hammers

West Ham United's Mauro Zarate is settling well into life at the Boleyn Ground.
The former Lazio and Internazionale man scored an impressive 19 goals in 29 games on his return to Velez Sarsfield, the club where he started his career as a youth team player, last season.
The 27-year-old was quick to open his account for the Hammers with a stunning volley against Crystal Palace, too.
"It was a nice goal, but it is only one," he said - a sign of his obvious ambition. "I have to continue that performance and work hard. After that we lost to Southampton, we didn't play very well. We have to come back strongly."
The Argentine has already had a taste of English football in a brief loan spell at Birmingham City in 2008. He scored four goals in 14 appearances yet it was not enough to save them from relegation.

Sounds like we have a full squad* to choose from.
Will Allardyce try something new, a la Palace or stick to the tried & trusted?
We're undefeated away this season :D
* Officially a "full squad" means everyone but Carroll is fit.

Lawro has picked us to lose. A win it is then B)
Hull v West Ham (20:00)
This is a West Ham team with better attacking options following the transfer window, but I don't see manager Sam Allardyce thinking, "let's take these on".
They also go there on the back of a 3-1 defeat at home to Southampton, so will be a bit more cautious. Allardyce has to be careful that it does not become three or four defeats on the trot.
Regarding Hull, they've had a proactive transfer window, bringing in the likes of Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez for a club-record £10m fee, while the mercurial Hatem Ben Arfa has joined on loan from Newcastle.
It will also help them that they are out of the Europa League - you need two good players in every position if you are going to try to balance a cup run and league fixtures.
I think the Tigers will edge this one.
Lawro's prediction: 2-1
Van McCann: 2-1
