Boro Complete January Transfer Window Swoop For Wigan Midfielder Adam Forshaw
Midfield man completes Teesside switch...
Boro have beaten off stiff competition to capture highly-rated midfielder Adam Forshaw from Wigan Athletic.
The 23-year-old has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract and the fee is undisclosed.
Forshaw learned his trade with Everton’s Academy and made two appearances with the first team, but it was a move to Brentford that saw his career take off.
Named Brentford's Player of the Season in the 2013/14 campaign, he joined the Bees in February 2012, but a loan period turned in to a full-time deal that summer and he went on to make 100 appearances for the club.
Forshaw made the move to Wigan in September and has made 17 appearances for the Latics this season, including one against Boro in November.

Adam Forshaw moves to Middlesbrough for undisclosed fee.
Bid from Middlesbrough ‘very good’ – Malky Mackay.
Forshaw travelled to the North-East to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms before signing and being officially unveiled as a Boro player today.
Manager Malky Mackay said: “A surprise bid came in for Adam, and it was a very good one that we felt was acceptable to us. He said he wanted to talk to them and that being the case, we gave him permission to talk to them.
“I can only say that in the short time we worked together I found him to be a terrific professional but for one reason or another it’s not worked out here and we wish him the very best of luck at Middlesbrough.”
Forshaw’s transfer from former club Brentford was only completed on transfer deadline day last September and he

From the Dundee Courier newspaper
Inverness have confirmed they have given Billy McKay permission to speak to Wigan - but reassured fans they have prepared for their top goalscorer's potential departure.
McKay could sign for the Sky Bet Championship side before the weekend if the Northern Ireland international agrees terms following a reported £150,000 bid.
The striker had made it clear to Inverness that he would not extend his contract beyond the summer and Caley Thistle are looking to cash in now.
Chairman Kenny Cameron told ictfc.com on Wednesday morning: "Following an approach from Wigan Athletic FC late yesterday afternoon and following discussions with the management team, the board of Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC agreed to allow Billy McKay leave to travel to DW Stadium for discussion of personal terms with a view to an immediate transfer.
"Billy has never hidden his ambition to compete at the highest possible level and has always conducted himself in a professional

The Latics are in desperate need of additions, as they fight against the drop, and they reportedly feel that the pair of Leeds players would enhance their squad considerably.
Wigan have just cashed in on Callum McManaman, who signed for West Bromwich Albion today, as reported by the BBC, and they could invest £1.5 million of the funds raised from the winger's sale on Austin and Pearce.
Leeds are under pressure to raise some money because of their struggles against Financial Fair Play restrictions and they may see this as a good opportunity to cash in on some of their more experienced players.
Pearce has fallen out of favour at the Whites in recent times and his availability was reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post earlier in the month.
Austin, meanwhile, has been a regular pick under Neil Redfearn but he is a player who divides opinions at Elland Road.
The Jamaican's power and physicality is generally praised, but his technically ability sometimes frustrates.

The transfer will be completed today if he passes a medical at the Championship club.
Inverness will net just over £150,000 for the 26-year-old Northern Irishman.
His departure is a blow to manager John Hughes, but the club knew McKay – who averaged a goal every three games for the Highlanders – could have left for nothing in the summer.
McKay will now be tasked with helping keep the Latics in England’s second tier. They are currently second from bottom under boss Malky Mackay.
The striker’s move to Inverness in 2011, after being snapped up from Northampton reserves, relaunched his career.
Inverness defender Graeme Shinnie will also quit at the end of the season after he agreed a pre-contract with rivals Aberdeen.
