I am cautious by nature and would be reluctant to just get rid of Rhodes because of his obvious weaknesses. I think back to times when we tried numerous different strikers who were more physical but had a poor goals-per-game record. "Sniffers" are hard to replace.
I'd rather explore the option of finding someone who can do the physical stuff and lay on the half-chances for JR. It looks as if the support-striker, playing slightly deeper doesn't work. Obviously, Chris Brown was acquired for exactly this purpose, but his all-round game probably isn't good enough. As usual, all the UK-based possibilities will probably be very expensive. I wonder if someone fitting the bill can be found abroad.
Robin, you know our junior teams pretty well. We have a lot of promising strikers in those teams. Are any of them the big, strong, "bruiser" type? What about Forrester, for example?

Well Rhodes hasn't scored in open play for about 10 games
It's just that he is likely to "click" again suddenly. It's probably easier to find a target-man than a natural goal-scorer.
I have some vague memory of Rovers considering Vardy at some point. Am I imagining this?
Forrester certainly is that type sadly imo he just isn't good enough
we have a few good strikers but none that really fit the bruiser role
I think after Monday koita could be given a run in the team and that could be a huge benefit to us with his size and pace just a shame he can't hit a barn door.
on the bright side in a couple of years we have a youngster in Lewis mansell who is an instinctive striker in the Rhodes mould
his goalscoring record for the under 19s/21s is superb.
