I never suggested that?Quote:

Goals win matches and generally ensure success. Rovers with Rhodes and Gestede should have at least gained a play off place.
I'm a bit taken aback that folk are still going back and blaming all this on Bowyer? This guy managed under very tough circumstances. He found Gestede from Cardiff reserves. He unerathed quite a few gems, aswell as signing some poor players.
And if your calling for Bowyer to be sacked, then whats your opinion on Lambert? What positive do you see now?
The thing with Bowyer was actually how much time he was actually given to turn things around which probably went against him more than anything. Yes two players dont guarantee you promotion but you could also turn it around and say Bowyer only had nine other positions to actually get right and he didnt.
GB did okish but as pointed out 40 goals from your strikers and you are looking at finishing higher than we did or at the least seem to be going in the right direction. He brought in so many players he didnt know his team from one week to the next even after winning, not a good plus point for a manager. He should have had nine players at he start of the season who he knew after being at the club the length of time he was, in his own head, was going to play week in week and put his confidence in those players. But he didnt ...30 plus players later ..the loss of half your 40 goals sold and sinking lower than ever. The chance to build a decent side around two good goalscorers gone. Not say
As for Garner...lets not forget people he was part of the side that won promotion to the Second division and the three or four near misses including the Play offs to get us into the First division. Goalscorers can make a big difference maybe that why some of the managers then didnt get sacked because they were actually up there challenging ?
The difference between then and now is the club making HUGE losses every season, hence massive pressure to be promoted.Quote:

I'm taking the cue with my "cherry-picked facts".
I reluctantly accepted that Bowyer had to go because there was little sign that we would ever be anything other than a mid-table Championship side under him, and, at that time, the general argument - here and elsewhere - seemed to be that we had to make a desperate run for the play-offs because only the Premier League could save the Club. Bizarrely, most contributors NOW seem to be saying that the Championship is our natural place and we should be content with it!!!
I simply don't agree with Robin and Howie that Bowyer had not done anything to address our weaknesses. He identified the fact that we were leaking too many goals, thus cancelling out the efforts of Rhodes and Gestede, and he invested to put that right.
In the first six games of this season, we conceded seven goals. As I have pointed out numerous times (without acknowledgement because it didn't suit entrenched anti-Bowyer doctrine), we then started to improve and in GB's
Good grief, do you really expect anyone to read through all that!?
We probably all know what it says anyway.
FFS get a life
That is the most truly pathetic response I have seen for a long time. If you "know what it says anyway", why don't you take the trouble to deal with the points raised?Quote:

Ok I will give a response to that
the fact of the matter that the season we should of got at least a play off place we conceded far too many goals this of course was down to a flimsy centre midfield and in defence
offensively we were almost perfect hence Rhodes and gestede scoring what they did however everybody was aware of our weakness
what was the main problems?
Well Hanley for one
He was injured and still was being played and to top it off given a captain's armband this was still the biggest error he made
countless errors led to us drawing games in winning positions
blind loyalty cost us and on top of countless changing team members smacked of he clearly didn't know his best team
consistent selections can lead to consistent results
I have openly said bowyer should of gone at the end of the season
In my opinion to not be in the play offs at the end of the season was a massive fail but to be further adrift than the season previous was a huge travesty
Of course com
