Jesus christ Burnley in the Champions League would be the end of football as we know it.

There’s no question Robinson was key acquisition as both a mentor and a reliable back up to Heaton. I’m sure Pope gained knowledge from Robinson, as did Heaton. I do know many Burnley fans were apprehensive about Pope when he took over from the injured Heaton. Pope is another example of a player stepping in seamlessly to fill the gap. Anders Lindegaard is the latest experienced goalie we acquired when Heaton went down injured, he’ll play a similar role to Robinson.
As for Wood: No doubt we’ve all noticed the price of players has gone way out of control, surely this can’t be sustainable. Burnley, and many other clubs are short of prolific goal scorers, no question about that. Wood was the most viable asset available at the eye watering fee of approx 15 million quid. Wood probably fit into our wage structure, one that is a cornerstone to our recent success. No ‘Billy Big Bollox’ on our team, an ‘all for one, one for all” attitude. Andre Gray pulled that stunt, more or less demanding silly wages, he was shipped off to Watford for a handsome profit.
If/when things ‘go south’ at Burnley, we most likely won’t be in a situation where we’re paying escalated PL wages and only receiving Championship income. How many clubs can we name that fell into that bottomless pit……………?
Footnote: Sorry for the rant, however some smaller clubs without ‘sugar daddies’ may be advised to take a look at how our club is run. And yes, your club and mine had some memorable tussles back the day
