It's a health and safety issue as well blocking the exits.
Why do some fans keep supporting?
I often wonder this as I have been living down south for the last 20 years and rarely go to home games.
I went to my first game at age 5 and between age 9 and 18 went to pretty much every game home and away before leaving Yorkshire on my adventures.
Yet, all these years later, I still watch/listen online where possible and when attending the infrequent games still find myself as passionately involved as ever, shouting, swearing, leaping, hugging, flagging! Even at home with my daughter I'll be jumping for joy with her when the Millers score.
And this Saturday I return to Rotherham and NYS to take my 5 year old daughter to watch a live Millers game for the first time. Will she be lifetime hooked as I was, or just plain bored and "never again!"? Dunno but very nervous that she'll call Childline...
So can't rationalise why some of us keep supporting the Millers. It just is. We just do. It can't be changed. It can't be lessened by time or distance.
Wouldn't have it any other way. Up the Millers! (Especially this Saturday, please boys! :-) )
I support the Millers because I was born in Rotherham. I don't think any further explanation is needed.
I've supported them for 61 years through thick, thin and thinner and despite a fair degree of heartache, I could never switch my allegiance to anyone else.
However, like Grist, I reserve the right to criticise the club if they seem to be losing their way. I hope this won't be the case in January but I can't help feeling we may be disappointed again. Hope I'm wrong though. UTM.
Disappointment is in the blood. Resignation almost.
But it does make those moments like Wembley 2014 so much sweeter.
