Wasting your time Pat.Wages come into it where we are concerned but not at other clubs.
Also the aim of a club is not to do a Leeds or Sunderland etc and isn't to be a club that tries to compete.What a future.
A club can try and compete as that will lead to more money coming in.
Every Premier League club starts off with the same amount on the TV deal.The likes of Man U,Man City,Liverpool etc get more down to live games.
Outside of the so called top 6 we are the team with the most amount of live games.Therefore we get more TV money than the likes of Bournemouth.
My original statement of them spending 20m had wages included.Seems that only counts here.
But never mind,apparently under Ashley we are improving.The mans not right

And to be honest, until not too long ago we were above Bournemouth and it took us to get cheated and Tottenham to play with 9 men for that to change.

You keep using Fulham as an example, you could use McMuffin as an example while he was here.

Bournemouth have been more successful than us and within their means whereas your beloved Fulham operated beyond their means.

Our club could say they financed an abortive attempt to buy Debenham's. Isn't it funny how the money stats tie up in comparison to one another.

It doesn't matter which club or manager I use as an example. If a club spends more than us it's apparently ambitious and we are misers. If a manager at our club spends big and fails, the club and owner are wasters or the owner is a chancer...or whatever.
This is really about Bournemouth supposedly spending 20 million as some kind of regular basis. They don't but are called ambitious.
Fulham spend over the odds and were called ambitious against us until it all fell apart.

No. You can say that if you want but you have absolutely no clue what's really happened, other than Ashley's outside interest is on the back of the club's well being, in your eyes.
Feel free to believe that but it doesn't make it a truth.
It's more a hatred for the owner rather than anything else, in my opinion.

NO it is a grievious mismanagement of this club's potential by an owner that even you could not deny lacked ambition for the club's interest.

Fatty had owned us for 11+ seasons now. You enjoy pontificating and writing reams of nonsesnse. Now I dare you to to write reams of truth and draw up a chart to compare Fatty's 11 seasons against the 11 seasons before the slug appeared on the scene to leach every penny he could from us. Keep it down to a normal post as it is a simple question to answer.

I'm sure you can do it without bringing Fulham into the equation and I won't bring in Spurs, Watford, Leicester, Wolves, Everton, West Ham and Bournemouth into the mix too.

How do you define ambition?
In this money hungry football climate what would you class as being definitive ambition by our club that is any different to those outside of the extreme elite, over a lengthy period?
There's no grievous mismanagement but there has been a mixture of errors and bad decisions from ALL parties, including the fans.
We're all in it together and we all created the monsters that reared their ugly heads, regardless of whether denial is in or teet for tat or he started it, etc.
Nobody is innocent and it doesn't just stem from 11 years of one tenure, either.

I've given you my opinion as you've given yours. Your opinion does not speak fact just because it's backed on a football forum, anymore than my opinion is based on anything other than just that. My take on how I perceive.

I can bring up many clubs that were touted as showing more ambition than us and who supposedly spent us under the table with supposedly real money where we apparently spent zero.

The proof is in the pudding when you see those clubs sink and take an era to regain top status, only to sink again.
We bounced back up because the owner had a contingency plan to do so and it worked out.
You can call it a big gamble or anything you want to but the fact is, we are still in the premier league whilst many who've been called ambitious and well run, have fallen apart.

I suppose it depends on how you look at it.

You have absolutely no clue as to what would have happened but you're well within your rights to guess what would've happened.
I'd like to know how Hall and Shepherd were going to finance the club if Ashley hadn't taken over.

My ambition as a kid was to play for Newcastle United, preferably at number 9 but likely in goal.
However, My ambition was a pipe dream but a dream nonetheless.
My ambition for the club does not exist. My hopes for the club always exist.
Being relegated is not in Ashley's mindset just to bounce back. You know that as well as any other fan. If it was we would be relegated again, just to bounce back.
Don't forget we got relegated twice with extremely decent squads, not relegation material.
Man Utd have a champions league squad but were not managed correctly along with too many ego's or dummy spitters.
We got relegated in a similar vein with squads that should've easily hit top 10, as far as I'm concerned.
