Champs - the point I am making is different from the one you're arguing against.
I am simply saying we will not be seeing much of our Academy graduates this season, unless we have major injury problems.
How can we?
Apart from the seven new players I mentioned, the match-day squad is going to include for sure: a second keeper, Lenihan, Williams, Bennett, Travis, Rothwell, Dack, Armstrong and Graham. Evans, Bell and Nyambe are also very much in the frame. That's more than a full squad for a game!
I'm not complaining about this. I'm just saying that is the line TM has chosen, to try and reach the top six. Inevitably, though, the youngsters are going to see very little game-time. It's undeniable. I doubt that Buckley would even have been on the bench yesterday if Tosin and Rothwell had been fit.
We are good enough for top 6. That A why I was very vocal at the start. And complained. We still had a glaring issue in defence. He addressed that. And since then our form has picked up and I've got less vocal as I feel we are now where I thought we'd be. And still improving. This season in particular we stand a good chance. As there isn't one outstanding side. And nobody is much better than anyone else. We shouldn't be scared of one side. Other than a crazy 21 min spell vrs WBA, we have been gradually improving every week. And Holtby will improve this already decent side. The young lads like Buckley will still get the same game time. They will just have to the up the standards. Evans justified his inclusion yesterday. He will continue to freshen the squad up every game.
