Imperial College, London, is citing September 2021 as the earliest we can hope for a relaxing of current public controls. That will not only decimate football, it will leave our economy in shreds.
Pity those fools who went public last weekend, a high number of them will now be infected. A sunny weekend is forecast; how will Joe Public behave?
We'll have testing soon, that will make some difference. I think football will return in the summer but there will always be players, managers and other staff unavailable for periods of time, a lot of games will be cancelled and rearranged at short notice, you'll see less than quarter full stadiums and some clubs may go under. Yes it will be a farce but the alternative, not having any football at all for 18 months is just not going to happen. We have to restore a sense of normality at some point and football has a chief role to play in that.
I'd like to see the season finish. But only if it's safe.
Behind closed doors with testing of every player before the game seems a good idea. Although will hit some clubs heavily in terms of finance.
They should just void the FA Trophy right now though. The only point of it was to go to Wembley. And frankly i'd think all Wembley-sized events across the country should be outlawed for about a year or so.
