Perhaps new investors would bring new impetus to the club especially if the right ones are chosen & perhaps additional voices may have led us to not selling to these current owners which frankly smacked of desperation to cash in

It could have done yes or it could have gone the other way who knows. I think on paper the new consortium looked good and didn’t really look like a desperate sale. I think he’d have struggled to find a better fit to the club as it is run. The only other option was to sell to someone who’d put in millions ( highly unlikely in Barnsley ) or someone who’d run up debt with no investment of their own.
I'm not great on finance terms as well. The financial consultants and accountants like to cloud things in jargon and confusion to justify their fees.
From what I've read ovva the last week or two is it correct that Dog paid James Cryne in "share capital" ie a 20% share of the club instead of paying back Patrick Cryne the whole of the £6.5 mill he was owed in cash for his various loans ? It would explain why Dog adopts the model of the previous owner keeping 20% of the cliub like he did at Nice (don't know the detail on Thun and Ostend). It would certainly lower the cash price Dog paid for Barnsley.
All you get from "share capital" is a share of any ongoing profits (unlikely at Barnsley), a share of the profits on selling the club and the prestige and power of being an owner. No doubt there are tax dodges to be had as well.
I understand ESR that the club can't ever lose control of it's finances and neither would I want it to .
The impression given in the later stages of Patrick Cryne's tenure and the new ownership from day one is that finance is more important than the field of play .
That is how it looks , every transfer window fills you with dread , especially the January one .
Look at the sale of Brad Potts , George Moncur to our nearest promotion chasing rival for instance .
Further back Hourihane , Bree and Winnall when we were 7th in the Championship under Hecky .
We come back up under Stendel with wind in our sails and he has the spine of his team removed .
On every occasion other than January 2019 we lose impetus at this level , one step forward followed by two steps back .
The new guys come in and its a struggle at championship level because we stick rigidly to the policy , no loans , no experience , not even one or two just to appease the HC and at least look like they want to be competitive in this league .
I wouldn't mind so much but last summer the recruitment within the policy was a complete bag of shyte , they've actually had their pants pulled down on a number of players and they'll be lucky to even get a quarter back on what they paid for em ...... the very thing this policy is supposed to avoid .
I'm in agreement with the concept of the transfer policy and the way the club is run barring one thing- Why on earth we didn't we sign a couple of experienced Championship players last summer? That's all i want, It's common sense surely. Give me that and I can say hand on heart that I'd be far happier because I believe it would give us a much better chance to succeed in this division and also help our youngsters develop quicker. Staying in this division would keep the 7 million TV money coming in every season and has to be the objective.
Unfortunately they won't deviate from the rule that they've set and unless there's some sort of miracle in the next few weeks, it's gonna cost us relegation twice in 3 years, thus the loss of 14 million pounds TV revenue.
It's like sending a workforce of inexperienced labourers to build a skyscraper. Nobody in their right mind would do that and not expect any repercussions.
Good afternoon Roma.Yes I'll be there whenever it starts again, hopefully September/October,irrespective of which division. If I'm honest I'm looking forward to hugging my grandchildren more than attending a football match.I hope you're doing well with your recovery. You'll have brighter days to look forward to.As always keep safe.
