Danny Allsopp. Quality player. And Julian Baudet.
Surely the space you left as ??? belongs to the legend that is Stanley Aborah. The "best midfielder outside of the Championship" and the "Lower league Messi" according to some. I still remember how his fancy turns would leave a couple of players on their arse on the halfway line, before he gave the ball to the opposition.
Anders Jacobsen was a rock at centre-half. It's a shame he didn't stay longer.
That made me laugh. His main contribution at Notts came on this message board, I think. Didn’t he go to Portsmouth after Notts, enjoying the same level of success? Another of the Muniz misfits.
And Allsopp and Baudet are good shouts. We had a few Aussies over the years - Andy McDermott, I think, and some kid who barely featured despite arriving with a decent reputation - Reuben Zadkovich or something like that? Did like Shaun Murphy at centre half, too.
Anyone remember the name of the African forward who scored the winner at Middlesborough in the League Cup?
The lack of a mention for Shola Ameobi is outrageous, Grenada's Delroy Facey too.
Zadkovich looked great but I think left because he was homesick?
KC is right about Snijders, he always looked decent and occasionally looked great, he was a poor mans Enzio with some of the goals he scored but just didn't seem to get picked towards the end of his Notts time. I also thought Mawouna Amevor looked promising, he kept Adama Traore in his pocket at Villa Park, but we didn't really get the best out of him.
And you can joke all you like about Aborah but watching him run a game in midfield was great, his composure and passing were way above League 2 level, he very rarely gave it away and the pass he did to a defender stood inside our goal to clear it probably took years off some lives in the Pavis, but he clearly was a difficult player to manage, hence the career he had. Mitch Rose often tried to do the same move backing into an attacker or midfielder before playing his way out of trouble but most of the time just lost the ball.
Pompey fans loved him btw
