I agreed with 80% of what Maynard said today, but the other 20% concerned me, especially when he said "we aren't equipped to deal with balls into the box". Really? Dealing with balls into the box is a huge part of winning games. I don't know if it was a subtle dig at the owners and recruitment or the players, but it seemed like an admission of defeat to me. His job is solving the weakness, not broadcasting it to other teams.
For what it's worth, I don't think we are equipped to deal with balls in the box with the players we've got. Even at 0-2 down we put a couple of really good balls in but their defender always got there first. We just don't have that type of player, our defenders are good on the ball but they don't bust a gut to be first to the ball. It should be a massive part of our summer recruitment, and I hope the brothers have learned the lesson that effectiveness often beats pretty.
