You make a valid point there.

I was discussing Rice with another group of friends about him being brought in and what he adds to the midfield. For me he's a too over cautious player who doesn't want to show himself up by getting it wrong. A sideways, safety, short passing player.

He has no 'forward' drive taking the team forward and I bet Bellingham is so frustrated being locked into the square/back passing set up in midfield Southgate wants.

Oh for a brave doesn't care attitude type of player who wants to push on.....obviously wouldn't count at this level but, a Frecks type attitude player.
