How's about this for an outsider creeping up on the rails... Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim & Morten Jensen are joint head coaches at Viking. One or both of them to follow Lars and Sondre to Pride Park?
Late to the party but I could see it coming, 7 successive defeats is hard for any manager to survive and I was beginning to question whether Warne was able to work out the best tactics to get the best from them.
Anyway RA, that puts an end to any debate abut Warne, his transfers and tactics!!!
I don't think we have a bottom 3 squad, certainly not after the incomings and any decent manager can work with what he inherits, rarely at this level does a manager have the luxury of rebuilding an entire squad. So I'm optimistic that the change will see Derby's fortunes reversed.
As for his successor, well as people have said, lets not have Gerrard or Rooney, nothing to suggest that either has the ability to coach at this level, we need someone with the required experience of managing/coaching at this level.
Cooper would be one, though his previous jobs would suggest our fickle fans would turn against him if matters got tough.
So Carsley? Mm sentiment plays a part but has no extensive coaching experience at this level, I'd suggest coaching at international level is very different. He would also need paying off from his England job.
Eustace? I'd have him without question, but why would he leave Blackburn at the moment? Again compensation may be an issue.
Wellens? No experience at this level, certainly seems an up and coming coach wouldn't be unhappy at his appointment but would be a gamble.
Edwards? Well he is available, did a great job with Luton wouldn't be a bad choice and cost would be less, though his salary expectations may be an issue.
For me it would be Eustace, Edwards, Carsley, Wellens.
Of course given the way Clowes works, it is just as likely that a "left field" appointment will be made. Clowes doesn't seem to make Knee jerk decisions and will surely have been thinking about who would replace Warne, in the event that matters didn't improve.
We shall know early next week.
I'm disappointed that Warne has gone, but think in the situation we were in it was inevitable, Warne was struggling and there was little sign that he could turn it around. Thanks for the promotion, no doubt he will secure a job back in L1.
On the Warne compensation issue, my understanding is that in most cases where a manager is paid off, there are two options - an amount which is final and the guy keeps irrespective of whether he secures another job or an amount that provides full compensation for the remainder of his contract but is reduced pro rata if he secures another job before the expiry of his old contract period.
Yep. Lol, wonder what we’ll find to argue over next. ;)
My order would be Carsley, Eustace, Rohl, Dyche, Edwards. I believe Eustace and Rohl are in a similar position of being at odds with their current employers.
Wonder how likely a Carsley/Cole double act might be?
I'm guessing if the new guy does turn it around you won't be saying it was all down to Warne's signings? LOL.
I can see why you might favour Carsley, but given he has next to none experience of managing a club at championship level, why put him in front of Eustace and those that have?
The rumour mill has it that Eustace is first choice.
Colin Wan*er is available as mentor I believe
