The run in does give some optimism though. We would have finished something like 3rd had it been replicated over the season.

Elsewhere I'm seeing names starting to be dreamt up by folk. Fans will dream stuff up. the usual clickbait sites will dream stuff up with wonderful headlines that all turns out to be cud/wud/shud/mebbe crap they have come up with to keep the clickbait advertising revenue rolling in. I'll post rumours in here but I'll refrain from saying I think we should go for this or that player as, however good they might be, I have no idea what Plan A will look like next season. Back 3/4/5? 1/2/3 up top? Midfield 2/3/4/5?
Depends who he gets in, way too early to call the likely favoured formation. I'll take a guess at 1-4-3-3 though.
Indeed, but not in addition to the players we did sign. The only one we might have got in apart from those, but didn't was the striker from Villa, which as it turned out we dodged another injury and the reason we didn't sign him was at least partly based on the loan fee and salary Villa wanted, so he went to Hull and managed 3 games!
There can be many reasons a player doesn't sign as you and I know, higher wages at another club, a clubs league position, where a player lives and yes I agree the manager. But there is no definite proof that we missed out on players due to Warne being our manager at the time.
IMO we had a good January window signing players that will at least hold if not increase their value and the Scandinavian's especially will benefit from a rest and good pre season.
I also agree, that having Eustace in charge, especially given his track record at Brum, Blackburn and now Derby and with a better budget, we ought to be able to attract better players than we could this time last year.
Where would be the fun in that? I'm in agreement that Eustace is the better coach at this level, theres ample proof of that. Warne would seem on the face of it to be a L1 manager, though I would caveat that to an extent that at both clubs he managed in the championship he was on a tight budget. But then Eustace managed to put the run together despite the injuries suffered by key players and its not the first time he has come in and turned a teams fortunes around.
It will be an interesting transfer window thats for sure.
