📝 New Manager [Luke Williams Appointed]

Another name that seems a new addition to the odds list is Anthony Limbrick, Aussie (hope he is better than the last one) Currently manages TNS. Hits the betting at 12/1

Limbrick plays a 4-3-3 attacking formation that focuses on building from the back and getting the ball forward in a variety of ways. He emphasizes a fast-paced game and the importance of passing in the final third. Because of his high-pressing, his team tries to win the ball back quickly after being dispossessed to prevent being caught out of shape. His style of play and philosophy has been successful throughout his career so far but he will look to further develop and adapt his tactics as he continues along with his coaching career. full article on link below.

There are few other regrets, despite turning the Chelsea job down when at Notts County. Instead he wishes he had managed Sunderland, Bristol City, Portsmouth and Ipswich, all clubs he had a chance to at some point.

Was he referring to Sunderland coming in for him in May 1992 there? If so, it would have almost certainly worked out better for all concerned had he taken that job then.

It’s interesting that hardly anyone is on here campaigning for anyone and probably shows the challenge Notts have. I was thinking earlier do they make a statement and go for the likes of Sam Ricketts, but then again thought, is he actually any good? As the initial hype around him died down when he had the Shrewsbury job.

A few very good managers in NLS. Ebbsfleet manager fits the criteria but just signed a new contract, Maidstone manager has good credentials but he’s 51 now so don’t know, plus again he just got them promoted as champions by quite a gap. Young manager at Oxford City, likes a wing back and is only 31, just missed out in the play-offs.

Problem is they’re all already working on their own projects so hard to prise away.

There’s also a LWB at Oxford City I like called George Harmon, scores goals as well and good at his defending duties when needed.

Really? So we now find it difficult to persuade managers of clubs like Ebbsfleet, Maidstone and Oxford City to come to Meadow Lane?

Oh well, at least we have stability.

We are where we are Elite, like it or lump it. Cant even be arsed to go over old ground over and over again about why we are here but yes we do have stability, for the first time in decades.

I accept that we are where we are, and I accept that we fully deserve to be where we are. What I don't accept is that we would struggle to attract a manager from clubs with facilities, attendances and budget a fraction of ours. All I see on here from many is a continual lowering of the bar so we can pretend we're doing well. I hope I never sink to those depths.

Spot on. And it shows itself in many ways - the backing of players who are/were never going to help us, the call for the type of players you'd need for a relegation battle rather than attacking a league we should be near the top of.

The last thing we should be doing is settling down for a decade or two of non-league football. We should be agitating to get out of here constantly, even if that's a pretty uncomfortable place to be. Each to his or her own, but I want to keep the bar as high as possible.

I’m certainly not lowering the bar of expectation in any way, I can assure everyone I’m as frustrated as the next person. However, I see owners who have steadied a sinking ship, they were nearly hero’s in their first season if it wasn’t for some poor team selection by The manager at the time. They gave him another year, in a covid stricken season and he lost the plot, they tried something a bit different and at times we looked like world beaters, unfortunately it wasn’t enough again and they’ve been left in a bit of a pickle.

I don’t think for one minute we have owners who are settling for non league mediocrity, I’m sure they want out of this league as much as everyone else associated with the club.

And as for struggling to recruit managers in the leagues below us, that’s not necessarily true, if they’re not available and already in the same league for next season, Oxford lad aside.

How happy would everyone be had we spent like Wrexham and Chesterfield considering how their seasons panned out?

It’s all old news, people aren’t settling for less, just sometimes a dose of realism is required.
