I'm really bored with all this McClaren was disloyal debate...it was two years ago now...but when the manager of any organisation fails to show loyalty to the 'cause' by intimating that he'd actually be happy to leave, it isn't ever going to endear him to supporters or those he's paid a great deal of money to manage. Couple that with the fact that DCFC actually resurrected his career in England only to hear twenty months later that Newcastle was where he'd always wanted to be and that 'it was all a matter of timing' after he walked away from us with a 'pay off' and I think my disapproval of the way he behaved is entirely understandable. That's my take on it. Doubt my mind will be changed but it is now 'water under the bridge' so let's drop it and move on.
What I will agree with you on is that, a little like Brexit, it's the future that matters and I am also at a loss to understand why no manager, not just SM, can get this lot to perform for a whole match. Performances such as those against Hull in the play offs last season and Wolves a few months ago illustrate our unpredictability perfectly, as did yesterday, and I have no idea which Derby team will show up against Cardiff. It's not just us though, even Klopp at Liverpool seems to have exactly the same problem and I'm sure Man.City and Arsenal fans would have no difficulty empathising, so maybe this whole 'over paid prima donna' thing is the key. They just no longer have enough to prove, they're no longer 'hungry' enough.
I'm not sure where the 'rose tinted' glasses come into it but I do know for sure that if I journeyed north this afternoon to see my old Rugby League team in action - probably on a bone hard pitch and in a blizzard - I'd see a group of semi-pro players, who will all return to their day jobs tomorrow, giving their all and that's what I think we all want to see at Derby.
