The Old Bill didnt used to like Pompey fans in New Berry :blue:
That was probably before the A34 bypass LDB!!
It was indeed, Twice I can remember going South after a Pompey away game and both times the Old Bill were everywhere to stop us "gaining access" :blue:
New Berry's race course is particularly under fire today. Having brought in their much hated (by punters) dress code, they cant provide enough stabling boxes today and tomorrow for their first flat meeting of the year. Horses therefore have been balloted out :blue: Time for a change at the top of their management many say.
Just popped into Joe's to add Oosthuizen to the list of burdened golfers at the Masters and saw there was a very tidy card at Newbury today.
Not awae of the various dress code and stabling issues though.
It has a soft spot with me as it was the first track I ever went to. Saw Mill Reef win the Greenham a few years later. They have had to ballot 9 horses out of the opening maiden race today although the BHA are staging an extra maiden at Nottingham next weekend in lieu. Management blame the bad winter weather and are certain
all will be sorted by the next flat meeting
I liked Newberry Fruits.

Yep New Berry fruits was standard Christmas treat for us to (together with a tin of Sharpe's toffees which these days would completely Bu@@er up my teeth *)...jellys with a sort of crunchy capsule containing a syrupy liquid. The challenge was to try to suck it carefully so that the jelly would go and leave the centre bit for the final coup de grace :D
*Before Corky makes a comment I did take the toffees out of the tin first !
Gotta say, this thread has taken some twists and turns ! XD
Chinese whispers have nothing on FF!
Now, when is best time to get yer 'earlies' in - or has one missed the bus...
