Was told that any expansion will be to the East Stand
Last night I joined a friend (who is a Blade) to the Sheff Uts v Scunny game.
The attendance was 19.442.
Scunny are in the depths of a relegation battle and Sheff Utd have vertually secured a play-off spot.
My point being is that an expansion of the NYS is not essential, but the potential is there.
I just have an awful feeling that we wont drag the punters in against the lesser teams.
For me this idea is crazy I don't know how the financial side of our club works but surely it would be more cost effective to pump the money down other avenues to cement us as a championship club then once that is achieved and we are getting top end figures on the gates then upgrade
XD XD XD XD ...Quote:

Sunny as ever, Brin. All my roses are out and the bougainvillea is flaming. Back to shorts and flip flops rather than shorts and trainers now that winters over! Did you decide on an itinerary for your next US trip? Hope you saw my comments on Utah and Colorado? We're planning a road trip to Oregon next month.[/quote]
Nothing decided on yet pal as the Daughter is about to embark on her 6 week training course in Germany to hopefully gain her stewardess wings...
this has put the US trip on hold...and yes I saw your piece on Utah thanks.
Still got my cowboy hat on the ranch in Oregon so maybe I'll
Maybe TS has decided to invest on both points? He's surely found out this season that to stay in the championship takes a different breed of player that we've seen on show this season...Quote:

The 2 goal ends only hold about 2,600...to increase the overall capacity by 4,000 would mean to build further back(more than double the present stand). They could split the 4000 between the 2 ends, but i'd think that the cost of removing the 2 roofs wouldn't be feasible.
I think the only, and quickest build, would be to build another tier above the present East Stand.
When i took photos' of the ground being built, and went down every 2 weeks, the biggest stanchions went into the East Stand presumably with expansion already in mind.
An East Stand expansion would appear to be the preferred option, with it being the smallest stand.Quote:

yeah, i knew what you mean Wrinkly. What i mean is perhaps it would be too much disruption to do both ends.
The East stand was designed, and i'm sure i read it some where, that further expansion would be another tier, above the present amenities not above the seats, so it would be behind the present seating not like the old "Double Deckers" we used to see on our travels years ago.
I seem to remember someone mentioning around the time of the stadium first opening, that the east stand can't be expanded. It was something to do with it being too close to the river, or the stand blocking the view of the new council building. Does that ring a bell with anyone, or is my my mind playing tricks?
I heard that east stand was going to be first to be extendedQuote:
