re: The All New Other Matches Thread
Well, anyway Gav with Newcastle going down it makes for a good awayday next season. I may try to time my trip back so that I can get up there. Love Tyneside, spent a lot of time up there in the seventies at Blyth power station and the Alcan refinery a bit further up. A bit rough and ready like but a special atmosphere.
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
Wow, that one must sting a bit for Newcastle, effectively being sent down tonight by their biggest rivals :D
Sunderland have escaped like this now for at least 3 seasons in a row and their luck will run out eventually.
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
The shame for Newcastle, being such a big club with a massive ground and fan base, is that they have so much difficulty in getting it right. With their cash flow, they really should have a top quality manager and be in the top half of the Prem.!
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
Burton Albion v Newcastle United. Aston Villa V Burton Albion. You couldn't make it up. Seven years ago The Brewers were non league. The Chairman Ben Robinson says that he may have up to 6 million to improve the wage structure! Newcastle and Villa probably spend more than that on mowing the pitch. How the mighty have fallen.
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
Newcastle fans must be beside themselves. Second relegation in the last decade for a club with a stadium that seats over 50k. I expect them to bounce back up right away though.

Clubs like Newcastle may have big crowds, but one of their biggest downfalls has been massive expectations. The club have looked on a downer ever since Chris Hughton left the club, a mid table finish deemed not good enough. Splashing the cash as Newcastle have done down the years doesn't bring instant success.
I'm so glad Leicester City went on to win the league.
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton are playing their play-off first leg game now, and Brighton have just hit the post with a Hemed header.
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
A good decision in the end by the officials after Forestieri's 'goal was disallowed for offside, Hooper never got a touch. A lively game with Ross Wallace and Hemed having decent chances.
re: The All New Other Matches Thread
What a finish from Ross Wallace, Stockdale with no chance with Wallace's effort from distance, 1-0.
