The next person with just an inkling of care about Wolverhampton Wandereres that gets within touching distance of Jorge Mendes needs to punch him square in the mouth! In fact they need to do it at least twice. Once for for being an absolute **** of specimen for thinking his role as a 'super agent' gives him the qualifications to control an English Football Club and a second time for thinking that second rate players from the Iberian Peninsula can impose themselves on the English game.
It's been some time since I had a rant on here. I've become harder skinned over the last few seasons and, to be honest, I'd lost a lot of the will under the recent stewardship of Morgan and Moxey. I just accepted our fate without so much as a nod. I also took it for granted that Gav, Eve and Andy would provide accurate match reports, which they did and still do, so it didn't really matter that much if I put my own thoughts forward. However, since the take over, and the influx of new money and players my passsion has also returned. And now it's hit boiling point but for the wrong reasons.
It might be okay for some of our fans to now be thinking that because we have a massive investment corporation behind us, from a nation that is probably the fastest rising business power in the world and a reputation that's ruthless that we'll be alright whatever happens. There seems, to me anyway, to be a thinking that if Walter fails he'll be gone by Christmas, and he may, and we'll keep doing that til we get promoted because the Chinese will not tolerate failure. I'm not comfortable with that because there is no guarantee of that even if they were familiar with English Football but I'm even less comfortable with them not knowing anything about English Football and putting their faith in a Portugese agent because he just happens to be on chummy terms with the manager of Manchester United.
Lets have a gander at what's happened so far. Before the transfer window Zenga was working with a limited squad, mainly consisting of players already here who knew each other and predominantly British with the addition of Bodvarson and a few portugese. It wasn't perfect because we were lacking strength in depth but it was battle ready and it's limitations in numbers ultimately provided for a stable team. Since the transfer window we've gone berserk. We've bought in another ten or so players, mainly from a region that play a completely different style of football to ours and now we are left with a conundrum of choice and very little time to work out which puzzle of players is the best for us to achieve our goal. If, ofcourse, there is one with the types of players we now have.
You would have thought, looking at the clubs in our division, that home wins against newly promoted Burton and Barnsley would be a must if we want to get into the promotion places this season but we've only taken one point from them and been outplayed by both. Poor distribution, abysmal defending, poor ball control, lack of movement - especially by the Portugese players who are, no doubt, used to standing in one bloody spot waiting for the ball to reach the lazy *******s and managed by a bloke who averages about three months a club and is already making more changes per game than a high class hooker! This is not boding well for an away day to a Newcastle side that is just finding its feet next time out. In fact, this is not boding well for the immediate future full stop!
Bugger me with the wrong end of a ragmans trumpet. Although I made a prediction I completely forgot about this game. What a bloody wake up call!!

Brilliant summation, Plates'. I'm sure many of us share your sense of despair at the present moment. If nothing else, it will be interesting to see what happens now. I don't imagine we'll be taking any points from Newcastle on Saturday, but anything less than a credible performance might advance the view that Wolves are merely subject of an ill-conceived, ill-prepared attempt by Chinese connections to ram-road their way into the upper echelons of English football. Jeeez!... I hope it's not all a bluddy pipe-dream !!!>:(
Typically under Zenga, we've played better in the second half. Looks like we didn't get either half going last night.

I can accept defeat when a Wolves side goes down fighting, but last night's result, and taking nothing away from Barnsley, who fully deserved their victory and the margin of it, isn't acceptable. The manner in which each goal was conceded, players backing off just wasn't good enough.
Talk during and after the game was about Zenga's rotation. Players can't develope an understanding if you are constantly in and out of the starting eleven. Myself and others on here and other Wolves forums have pointed out in all the games so far this season that Wolves don't show up first half and Zenga's changes make an impact in the second, well against Barnsley it came to an end.
An interesting observation for me was when the Barnsley manager decided to freshen things up, he decided to replace both Armstrong and Winnall, both caused Wolves no end of problems. But those two replacements gave Barnsley fresh legs and also gave them another threat in front of goal, which paid off.
The 4-0 scoreline could and should have been a couple more. Wolves did have three decent chances, Mason and Wallace in the first half and Bodvarsson that he put just over the bar in the second half.
Wolves need creativity, not starting a game with three holding midfielder's as they did last night. Our work rate wasn't good enough when Barnsley had it, in contrast, they pressed us into making mistakes. The result is a massive wake-up call for Zenga and co.

Barnsley are a good side, good on the ball, attack, defend in numbers and play as a team. Burton are well organised and also created chances, Nigel Clough's side will cause other sides they face problems.Quote:
