I have bad memories of turning up there all bright eyed and busy tailed with my Dad for the season's opener in 1963? The relatively famous Eddie Lowe as our manager and star striker signing Terry Bly. We got tonked and then got relegated.
Meanwhile AH is saying “It’s a good opportunity for us to progress to the fourth round.” He's not supported Notts for long as he!
Who put that Colour Picture up on this board - bloody tempted fate that :( Psychic or what :?
That’s just what I thought, Old_pie.
The last time we beat Brentford was in 2004, Tony Scully (remember him?) came off the bench to score the winner in a 3-2 win at Griffin Park.
As MAD_MAGPIE said, our next 8 games against them ended in draws, followed by 4 defeats, the last one being in 2014.
Alan Judge got 2 against us in a 3-1 defeat. Jimmy Spencer scoring an 84th minute consolation for us.
Time to buck the trend! 2-1 to the Magpies and a 4th Round tie against Newcastle at St James’ Park, please.
haha I was at that game. I seem to remember Gary Mills literally forced our players to do a group Klinsmann celebration at the end of the match. Strange indeed. Tony Scully scored a few decent goals if I remember correctly, including that worldy against Blackpool at home.
**** draw though. Brentford may well be a half decent Championship side these days, but it my eyes they aren't a bigger club than Notts. It's a bit disheartening to get to the third round and end up with a draw like that, especially when our neighbours land a dream tie without having to win a game. Oh well, you don't get what you deserve, you get what you get. Hopefully in our case that will be promotion.
Brentford can't be that good. They have only got 27 points from 20 games XD
... it's the PC brigade ... the BBC think he's trainable... he's young, characterless and non-white.
It certainly influences his feelings towards us. I'm not a pundit, I can say I hate the Scum, he's meant to be impartial.
I can't think of another pundit who has achieved as little as him, except possibly Robbie Savage, but he's picked for being controversial. Jenas isn't, his opinions could be predicted 3 months in advance. He is utterly dull, and I'm afraid has been picked for PC reasons. Does that mean I'm racist? Well, I like Ian Wright, so I don't think so.
Jenas played over 400 games, mostly for decent Premiership teams, and was capped 21 times by England. Beyond that, does it really matter what he achieved? Pundits are there to give expert insight, and I'd say he's qualified to do that. On top of that they need to be confident in front of the cameras - again, he qualifies. I'd say Jenas is there to provide a bit of balance between older and younger pundits, and probably appeals to slightly more youthful football fans. He's a bit of a lad - some people like that. And yeah, the BBC is no doubt aware of its responsibility to present people from all ethnic backgrounds. That's just a reflection of English football and wider British culture. What's the problem?
