It's only 7th of June, no point expecting much activity yet. We often leave it late, Sean has said it's something forced on us by our finances, but now that we're not strapped any more, maybe we can get more over the line earlier, we'll see.

Every club does it to an extent otherwise that boring fart Jim White wouldn't pollute our screens every deadline day ;D - of course if they did the decent thing and went back to the old system it wouldn't bother us at all ?

These days deals need half a dozen different circumstances to align - it only needs one player to shake his head or pick up a knock (stopping a loan move out in January for example ;D ) and four or five related moves are put on hold ...

If I was excited about in-comings I'd still be watching the East Midlands

Stephens I don't know what went on but I'm glad it didn't happen - nothing there to improve our team

No doubt a lot of it is paper talk Ralph, like Dyche to Everton when he was never even on their radar for the job. But the three I mentioned were targets all summer, Dawson was so sure he was signing for us he was at one of our pre-season friendlies, but WBA strung us along and then pulled the plug right at the last minute. Lansbury was actually at Turf Moor when Forest told him to get back to Nottingham, and Foster/Stephens was so determined to sign for us he refused to train for Brighton, but we were up against a professional poker player, and he wasn't bluffing.

I'm not knocking Westwood, he's done an OK job since he came in, but possibly Stephens could have offered more ?

Yes I know they expected DS to arrive , I either didn't know or I've honestly forgotten what went on with the other two...

The truth is modern transfer deals are far removed from what went on in the past , I must confess I find the transfer window thoroughly depressing so many variables these days ?

I was thinking of the Assombalonga tale ...

ralph --I am definitely with you on the transfer window. I think that the whole scenario was manufactured just for the media and in particular Sky because of their financial input to football.

As I have said, the players, agents and the selling club hold all the aces and all the agent is interested in is how much money he/she can make out of any deal. Sad state of affairs these days.
