I'd love if we actually had a long term plan with transfers. Each window we seem to bluff and end up losing what's at stake by leaving it too late.
Presumably we think we can get better than Hendrick or Lennon otherwise we would have offered them enough money to stay.
Get some bids in early for once and it that's not possible now should be an easy time to pick up out of contract players.
And if nothing's possible. Tell a few of the young lads it's their chance to step up.
We have Mike Rigg sorting out the chain of supply into our first team squad.

Reactive isn't always cheaper though. And even if it turns out we get a player cheaper, is it better than getting our primary target?
Unfortunately I think it's harder for us to sign quality players now because we play hard ball with fees, both with club and player.
West Brom pulled one over us a few years back at the last minute and I really hated them for it but maybe it was justified if we we're trying hardball.
I feel you want to get your business done early so you can get the new players to gel sooner. Do that and you should finish higher in the league and make more money in the long term.
Meanwhile the agents stall and advise players not to sign just in case a better deal comes along, not in order to benefit the player, rather just to benefit the agent who gets more for himself if he can push the price higher.
Get rid of the transfer windows and it would make a difference to the market and would ensure that players aren't kept at clubs when they don't want to be. However, we know that that is never going to happen because it would deny Sky TV the opportunity to make a big deal out of it all.
