That may be the case, although, from my experience running Junior football in Middles e x* through the 1980s, there were lots of immigrant children who were playing at age levels which were very debatable to say the least.Quote:

To what you ask Sinkov about why England. Some of the North African ****agers when working on the streets wanted to get to England. I believe the main reason was that you are not part of The Schengen acquis. The first European country a refugee or illegal immigrant is “found” they are more or less forced to seek asylum... even if they never wanted to stay in that country. Often they keep moving and the asylum case stops or they get a negative result because all interviews are not completed etc. If someone gets a negative answer in one country but tries to seek asylum in another that is connected through Schengen, that person will just be shippped back to the first country he was registered and If possible returned to their home country. Since England is not part of Schengen they can start the asylum process anew. If this is correct I don’t know for sure, but it was what I was told by them and people smarter than me :)
The UK isn't the first choice destination for the large majority of refugees, but for those who choose the UK we should feel proud that they wish to make their lives here. We obviously have a good reputation among those who try to get here.
And I think that most people agree that we should not turn our backs on individuals, or families, who have left truly awful situations and are seeking a better life. The numbers are pretty small.
Imagine that you and your family were Jews in Germany in the 30's. You felt very threatened and feared for your life, and the lives of your family.
So you made a decision to flee with your family. And you decided to try to reach the UK.
If you had been met by an hostile environment, threatened with being sent home, people telling you that you were in the country illegally and "you should have thought of that before you left" then your views on the UK being a safe haven may have changed.
The vast majority of refugees have fled similar conditions in their homeland and if we shut our doors to them in their hour of need, then Britain is nowhere near the country that I think it is.

Or of course we could do what Frau Merkel did and invite them in, welcome them all with open arms. Ask them in Cologne what they think about that. >;)

Fair enough, that was Mutti Merkel's solution as well. I think the offer was soon withdrawn. I wonder, does your offer of help extend to a bedroom Chez 59 ? I think Cameron had the best idea, possibly the best option is try to get them accommodated as close to their home country as safety and security will allow. There is a difference between genuine asylum seekers and economic migrants attempting to enter the country illegally, if anyone is entering this country illegally, I would return them from whence they came.
I would also like to ask them what they have against France, Germany or any of the numerous other countries they've passed through to reach England. What do we have that all these other countries don't ? This really intrigues me, when I read in the Grauniad about foreigners being attacked in the streets by the Far Right, about mushrooming hate crime, Islamophobia, our institutionally racist Police and Border Force, the prejudice, and racism they will meet from so many in this country, I really do wonder just why they risk their lives to get here.

I expect part of the reason they want to come here is because it's much easier to integrate. Not only because of the language, but also that they can live a life in a Muslim community.
Now I'm the type of person who believes we should open our door to anyone and I still believe the vast majority should be more than welcome here.
However my aging self has also taught me that religion itself is the cause of much evil and that there's fundamental differences between a society built on Christian values compared to islam.
So really I think what should have happened is in order to live in the uk they'd have to be prepared to give up practicing their religion. That ship though has sailed.
Freedom of religion just isn't a good idea at all and if it were up to me I'd banish Christianity from the UK too.. but it's just a lot harder when the foundation of the country is based on it.
Now don't get me wrong. I've met some cracking Muslim people who integrate well despite remaining loyal to their religion, and it's a horrible shame to them that a few idiots let them down. If only there was a way to prevent extremism completely.. and both ways too. Christian people have committed atrocity too you know.
But man the world is messed up now. It just gets me down. In truth I usually avoid talking or thinking about it because it seriously bums me out.
I know it seems whimsical but at times like these I just listen to Barbra Streisand belt out "People".
The US was built on immigrants, so was Australia and New Zealand.
The elephant in almost every nation's front room is Islam. Once we can have a narrative without prejudice and fear we could sort it.
During my lifetime and right now I am living amongst some of the gentlest Muslim souls a person could ever wish to meet; the one thing that truly baffles me is why do these gentle souls do not earnestly condemn the radicalised Muslims of this world?
I am deeply troubled by Islamic rabid anti-Semitism and our political classes refusal to address this Muslim inspired anti-Semitism and radicalisation. "Free Passes" being given to Muslim origin child grooming gangs should also be of massive concern, but the police and social services seem to turn a blind eye in case the old "Islamophobia" charge is levelled at them.
It is easy to see how the emergence of the far right across Europe is happening. Illegal immigration is just adding fuel to the fire. Our lot can't even sort out our kids "A" level results, never mind serious social issues like this. :blue:
The danger is with the Moslem Brotherhood they are imposing their ways on the respectable Moslems. They are going into Europe and they are going to tell you what to do!! The Imams in the mosque tell other Moslems,''You have to contribute money to Hamas ,or hate your neighbour ,or don't say 'Merry Christmas'. Its forbidden in France for Moslems to greet with 'Merry Christmas '',why it is a Moslem Brotherhood line not to say 'M C'. The King of Jordan says 'Merry Christmas ' he is not of the M B.
The Mosque is first a house of prayer , but it has become that everything goes through the Mosque. They are going to made a state within a state ,why because the laws allow them to do it ! That's your problem in the west, it allows them to do it !! So they are making this ''quiet Jihad'' within themselves.
