Brilliant Mick haven't seen that before.
But talking of Scotsmen Billy Connolly has been my favourite comedian for almost fifty years.
Saw Dave Allen at The Alex in Brum. Started to tell a ghost story and dropped his voice to not much more than a whisper. Me and the rest of the audience stopped breathing so as not to miss a word. When he let out a scream we jumped as one. Probably took 20 mins to tell. Brilliant absolutely brilliant.
Saw Tommy Cooper live 8 years between shows. Disappointing that his act didn't seem to have changed at all.
Used to regularly go to Comedy Club nights in Brighton but got fed up of the style or lack of it from today's comedians who were tele regulars on Mock The Week or Apollo etc. Wanted to leave before Reginald D Hunter, Sean Walsh, Ed Gamble, Lou Sanders, Henning Wehn and a few others finished. Notable exception for me was Gary Delaney who actually told jokes. Although he was the star he came on first then passed over to deaf comedian John Smith who was excellent before Delaney came back for a second slot.
As comedy double acts go nobody could compare to Morecombe and Wise. Genius is the only word I can use to describe them. I understand that some aren't as enthusiastic but to me there was, and still isn't, anyone to match them.
I was never a fan of M&W, i thought that type of humour belonged to my parents generation, but they didn't like them either.lol
But M&W were on a totally different level to most mentioned on this thread, they just weren't my genre of comedy.
