My problem is my postie has decided 2 steps is too much for his ample frame to climb and puts mail in letterbox from side of the step.....resulting in crushed mail as his arms wasnae quite long enuf.....I won't be writing to the council about this "issue" though....I'm gonna sort it myself.🙂

Last week I received a reply to my complaint from Royal Mail which basically was a waste of time as they have not resolved my complaint. They said that the reason for my Mail being delivered at 7pm last June was due to a shortage of posties due to annual leave.
Last week our Mail is still being delivered at 7pm so that reply was a lot of rubbish.
I do not understand why my postie continues working for the Royal Mail when he is getting home from his work after 7.30pm every day. It must be soul destroying.
In hindsight I should have dealt with the organ grinder and not the monkey.
I should have sent my complaint to the Chief Executive of Royal Mail to get the matter resolved.
The reason that our Mail is being delivered at 7pm is because the Royal Mail have the contract to deliver Amazon parcels on Islay with the posties having to deliver the parcels along with the letters.
Every morning three vans full of parcels from Amazon are coming off the morning sailing at 9.10am thanks to the Ileachs gong daft ordering goods from Amazon.
If the Royal Mail bosses had any sense they would have a separate parcels delivery on Islay with the delivery of letters being carried out separately.
One of the joys of living life on the edge.
If there are any posties or former posties on this site I would be interested to know if they would put up with finishing their delivery round after 7pm every day.
My postie told me that one day last December he delivered our mail at 9.30pm (21.30) when we were on ‘holiday’ in Dundee.

If they delivered packets later, the postie delivering them would finish about midnight, what a stupid suggestion, letters are no longer important, when was the last time you received anything important in a letter, everything is on line now, hospital appointments are posted weeks/months in advance, packets are now the priority, your lucky your not being charged the full cost of delivering to your island, folk on the mainland are subsidising your costs, it’s only a matter of time Royal Mail will be allowed to charge like other delivery companies, that’s why they lump all their work on to Royal Mail, posties are now delivering packets up to 19:30 all over the country, they are called LAT’s, certain companies you order by a certain time and get item same day

You still get docs letters when they can't get hold of you, some people's aunties still like to send Xmas cards, my £1000 cheque from postcode lottery came in a golden envelope from the gpo.

Was thinking of leaving a biscuit at the top of my step to entice the postie up the stair....would that work?

The delivery of letters on time by the Royal Mail might not be important to you but it certainly is to me.

We should have received the letter on Tuesday but it was not delivered until the Friday evening at 7pm. The next time I saw our postie he admitted that our Mail had been held back for three days because there was no postie available to deliver it.

Take my advice - never ask for gig tickets to be delivered by post. We've all seen the results of that tak being taken.

As a private company now it’s only a matter of time the universal service will go, as for your important letter, get it sent special delivery you’d be guaranteed delivery, with compensation if it never arrived on time,
Maybe if folk like you didn’t stop your postie for a yap or to complain he might be able to get on with his delivery on time
