Well it depends on whether Swale has the tolerance, and I wouldn't blame him if he didn't, to monitor it. However, most of us are old enough to understand that some have markedly differing views to others on certain subjects, and should therefore be able to accept that, and not go squealing for yellow and red cards.

I'm sure there are a few that agree somewhat with Mr Non-White hoss (surely Blackhorse is unacceptable, and does that hoss need pulling up by the jockey 2 furlongs from home, for food and fluids?) but are hesitant to air them for fear of the flak they will cop.

This is not a post that is going to end nicely regardless of your opinion. Do you think they will start doing it in the NRL I am sure there are a few believers playing.

I don't know how or why you bring 'right-wing /left wing' into a pretty basic question of human decency - do you allow followers of the one of the world's major religions, to take refreshment after a full day of fasting including fluids as part of their once a year holy month?

If anything, the right, being ones for 'tradition' and organised religion, will be the ones wanting the pause or the libertarians insisting on the right to do so. Here the right seem to get what they want, a pause for refreshment.

Mate I just chuck a lure out to try and spice things up a bit; the board used to be a right hoot years ago but is no fun anymore. As for the NRL, there are some high profile present players, Payne Haas for example, along with past players SBW, El Masri and Anthony Mundine all of who have influence on younger players, some of whom (Tevita Pangai jnr) are leaning to Islam as a way out of their troubled ways etc etc. NRL is fast changing- you can no longer decapitate your opponent- (bring back the biff) so who knows what will eventuate in the future.

I have met El Masri, a devout Muslim, and a nicer bloke you could not meet, even though he's a Bulldog.

... do some of you not think that I realise that I might cause offence to some who have a different view? Why should we have to tip toe around (some) topics for fear of upsetting others, some of whom appear to have no difficulty in offloading their prejudices? If you believe racism shouldn't exist well good for you. Try observing the real world, not just parochial Notts ...

I agree people should be allowed to voice opposing opinions, and it baffles me how many people seem to be offended by anything that is outside their own view.
However, to pick up on your last comment, I do observe the real world and I’m a firm believer that racism shouldn’t exist. Why would anyone think differently?

Not sure why it's a big deal. The fasting times change every year which probably explains why it hasn't been a mid-game thing until now.

Anyway now that medical emergencies at grounds have seemingly come to a gracious but mysterious near-standstill there's plenty of scope for impromptu stoppages

Fasting times are always the same: dawn till dusk.

The dates change every year as it's based on the lunar calendar which has shorter months. The dates get about a week/ten days earlier every year, so it won't have changed much from last year.

Football is Football. If your religious & it interferes that day, don't play simple, same as Fashanu did on Sundays. A line needs to be drawn on all this stuff.
