Our 'best' first XI as things stand ??

Bobby Clark was inferior to both Leighton and Snelders and imho just a vastly overrated keeper within the support....still...40 odd years after retiring.

Bobby was a different type of keeper. The reason he occasionally looked flat footed was because if he wasn't getting a shot he didn't do the dive for the cameras.
The 79 LC game he was carrying an injury that kept him out for a lengthy period (an injury he had already suffered prior to the first goal, an injury that probably cost us the cup). I don't recall it coming about because of a collision with the post, but I do recall his attempt at saving the equaliser worsened the injury.
So, we can focus on those two games or we could focus on the record breaking clean sheets run or hunners of other things.

Bobby Clark was a keeper years ahead of his time.
He relied on great positional sense and anticipation rather than the Hollywood saves.

I've enjoyed reading the Bobby Clark posts, not often I could say that about anything on here nowadays, but good to read opinions about a player you never saw play.

He was before my time watching the Dons, but he was my PE teacher at school when I was 8, for a short while, I think it must have been around 1981.

Mr Clark was my PE teacher at Harlaw Academy from about ‘77-‘80. I remember calling him Bobby rather than Mr Clark and that was 5 laps round Hazlehead playing fields for me.
A great keeper.

After hearing the sad news regarding Davie Robb, I find myself singing " We don't need Eusebio"

The very same Eusebio that said Bobby Clark was the best goalkeeper he'd ever played against.

Changes: ... Bates' arse is nae worth a splinter. Likewise McLennan.
Hancock nae quite good enough yet, but worth a place on the bench. McKenzie can keep his place warm.

Other comments.
Fair play tae Roos - a clean sheet is as good as it gets, but Lewis is still the better keeper.
Besuijen, Polvara ... crackin players, but nae use against teams fa constitute a 10 man defence.
Kennedy ... has earned his place.
Ramirez ... Good return v Peterheid, but Moivski appears tae be a far superior player/striker.
Scales. Aye, he's a Tim, but he's oor Tim ... did well v P'heid ...
McRorie: guy has an eye for goal ... so push him up front.
Hayes ... rarely the best, never the worst ... played as an attacking mid, will do more right than wrong.

.... and so, back on topic we go .... fit yiz sayin?

I'd go with Lewis as number one too Neeps, but not sure about our overall best 11 at this moment.

Not sure on Kennedy in your line up, but if Goodwin can get some sort of form from him, that would be a miracle in itself, as he has been fairly shyte since he came up here. Prepared to give the boy a chance if the manager sees something in him that none of the rest of us have so far, but far from convinced he will be a first choice, but I am usually wrong in these matters.

Aye weel, Ah saw some real promise fae Kennedy in his early games for us ..hence my disillusionment and frustration ( and pissed-aff-ness!) wi' the guy.

Yesterday, Ah saw enough tae accept he has been hampered due tae injury, and now recovered, might jist hae got back his 'mojo'. Time will tell ... and time Ah'll allow him - despite earlier 'get him tae f*ck' utterances ;)
