Exeter by far the better team and deserved it tonight, the effort it has taken to get to where we are looks like it’s took it’s toll tonight.
It’s all about how we bounce back against Morcambe now!
Can’t see us getting automatics now.

Runs come to an end and we had a cracking run. Some great performances, but not tonight……. Something just not clicking…..Too many sweating on cards? Too confident? Subs didn’t come off? Disappointing.
As you say Animal… hard to be too critical, just one of those days
Can’t argue with result
Bad night at the office
Dust ourselves down and put Morcambe away on Saturday
Reckon that’s automatic gone through
Better to go up at Wembley anyway
Well the month of March is now over and at the start of the month with the fixtures we were facing I'd have taken 10 points from the 7 scheduled games and been quite content.
As it happens we've played 6 games due to the Ipswich postponement and taken a tidy 13 points which has pretty much cemented us a play off spot.
Automatic is still not out of the question but fair play to em. It's been a blast beating Plymouth, Derby and Wednesday in these last few weeks and given me a great deal of confidence.
Let's finish the season strongly and see where we end up
Was that a hangover from a busy March programme? We put a lot of effort in at home against Derby, Plymouth and Pigs 🐖 and it probably told. The last 3 away games have resulted in poor performances where we got away lightly. Last night was just pyss poor in all departments. We didn’t look a shadow of the team that plays at oakwell and it was hard to believe we were playing for an automatic promotion spot.
We move on to the weekend but we landed ourselves behind the black ball last night.
Here’s hoping for better to come.
The last ten games of a season is usually the time for "shock results". Teams chasing something begin to feel the pressure, those near the bottom are feyting for their lives, teams safe in the middle are either mentally on the beach or play with freedom. There will be a lot more "shocks" to come for all the teams.
I have commented that it is usually better to have wins/ points in the bag than have games in hand.
Only seen the goals so can't comment on the performance generally but Jordan Williams looked to be having a rare mare of a game with the goals resulting from moves down his side.
The defeat needs to be set in the context of winning ten and drawing two of the previous twelve but i expect a fair sprinkling of odd results and twists and turns in the last nine games as arses begin to twitch at all the top clubs. Experience is often the key in this situation so I still fancy Wednesday and maybe Ipswich for the top two spots--but I could easily be wrong. Peterborough could be the dark horses in the Play Offs.
My thoughts.
From the kick off we played tippy tappy showboat football - followed by a hoof ball up the pitch.
For some reason our build up play was far too slow.
Big booit up the field is fine if we had a mobile big strong centre forward with the capabilities of holding the ball up so others can get near to him.
But we haven’t.
Or should that be that we have, but he only plays in the last 20 or 30 minutes of a game.
Additionally - as I’ve said on a few occasions - I wish we had wingbacks as good as Kichen when he plays in that position.
Sheffield knew where our weaknesses where - both their goals were carbon copies and came from weaknesses of our wingback - and Exeter also knew where our weaknesses lie.
Staff at Barnsley will also know this.
If we don’t get promotion then it will be these playing positions that has caused it.
I think we need a few more players.
In saying that - someone said to me after the Wednesday game that if Wednesday do go up then they will need at least another 11 players.
In other words we have better players than most (all?) other teams around us.
I’ve never been convinced that this Barnsley team is good enough to get promoted.
If we do then it’s going to be a surprise - and after the season we have had it’s going to be tinged with disappointment - and a huge disappointment to some of our supporters.
But - if we turned the clock back to the start of the season then not many would have predicted where we are now.
So whatever happens from here on in it’s been a great season.
And it’s not over yet.
If the coaching staff remain the same then it’s going to be even better next season.
Agree with comments re Williams last night. Teams seem to be targeting both full backs and balls over the middle 3 at the back. Seems they think that’s how to get at us.
It cost us 2 against pigs and 2 last night. Fullbacks good going forward but I hold reservations about them defensively.
Anyway onwards and upwards hopefully.
Nudge, "If the coaching staff remain..."------Duff will be gone if we go up and struggle early on, which will happen unless there is strengthening of the squad with Championship quality players. Remember Stendel.
Duff will be gone if we don't go up as bigger clubs will have noted his ability and already pencilled him in. Remember Ismael.
