Slightly disappointing turn out in dreadful conditions which felt more like December than July, but a hugely encouraging first half performance after a tentative opening quarter of an hour. Three well taken goals and a very strong looking defence that looks likely to pose a real threat at attacking set pieces too. Even though Corey Smith went off at half time he was still motm imo...a revelation playing further forward and a real creative force. Bryson, Waghorn and Nugent all looked like yesterday’s men but all credit to them for turning out while Bradley Johnson still looks as if he can do a job if need be.
Anyone watching without knowing would have thought we were the Championship side not Stoke in that first half, while the second half was too disrupted by so many changes to be meaningful, although I thought young Darren Robinson looks full of genuine potential.

Good that they turned out for him. Can't take too much from friendlies of course, but good that we're finding ways of scoring.

Best pre season showing thus far. The real test will be Chef Yew on Satdeh. If it's another good performance, we're well set up for a decent season at least and, hopefully, a top one.
Looks like Sibs calf injury is worse than first thought and he will miss the start of the season. The rest of the injured are still on course to be available although they will be two to 3 weeks behind in their fitness work.

Going on Saturday, treating my Dad for father's day and pre match meal in Seven.
Hopefully we can go up this season and next season he gets his free ticket for being over 85 in the championship

I'd have preferred his testimonial to be an end of season affair with more players from the early days of his time, would have been good to see thorne, bucko, ward, Martin etc all pulling on a shirt. Even Steve Mac and Nigel.
