Are you suggesting the injuries keeping Archer and Ali out of the Test team are due to racism ?

The situation in France bears some similarities to the riots in England.
First of all the people who knew the victim took to the streets in protest. Then they were joined by those who wanted to use the situation to make a political protest.
Next was the criminals who just wanted to loot shops or have a screen for settling scores.
Finally they were joined by kids who just wanted to let off steam.
The latter probably had the biggest impact on numbers as it was the school holidays.
That father who went into the crowd, dragged his 17 year old out by the ear and stuck him in the boot of his car to drive him home was hilarious but I think the video going viral and the mass approval he got for it played a significant role in starting the considerable public reaction - and this is where we got a different reaction from the riots in England.
First we got French locals who went out in numbers to protect local shops from the rioters with baseball bats.
Then we got racist organisations and football "ultras" wading into the rioters.
Finally we got the middle class grannies marching to the town hall in support of the mayor and the police.
While Toxteth, Birmingham and Brixton burned, we sat back for the most part and let them get on with it - after all it's the police's job isn't it? Not in France it ain't.
Might watch "Do the right thing" again.
