Well I’m sorry if I got it wrong.
So what did you mean - not understanding the culture ?

BTW Shads - I’m not inferring there is any racist element in this.
Because that is definitely not the case.
I’m saying when you talk about no connection to the culture - I thought you meant because they are foreign.

Also SB banging on about New York Hedge Funds has muddied the water a bit.
.[/QUOTE]
I keep "banging on" about New York Hedge Funds because they are how we ended up with The Arseoyle as Co-Chairman and how JAQ is involved with the club--fairly important don't you think ?
The Arseoyle (Conway)
As is common in USA finance Conway sets up Special Acquisition Company (SPAC), a shell company whose sole purpose is to gather together other investors.
Hedge Funds--their purpose is to take calculated gambles in the finance markets to make profits.
Conway pitches, like on Dragon's Den, to the finance market that he has a way of making money. You buy into European soccer clubs he considers undervalued (cheap) and make money by either selling the club on, or selling its physical assets or through player trading.
Four Hedge Funds in New York like the sound of this way of making profits, even as a gamble.
They join together into Conway's SPAC, call themselves The Investor Group, and make Conway their representative at Barnsley FC, giving him an initial four years to make them money.
Conway buys up 20% of the shares on offer on behalf of the Investor Group, a quarter of the 80%, making the Group the second biggest share holder and him to become Co-Chairman.
Julie Anne Quay JAQ is the wife of the owner of one of these four Hedge Funds--Matthew Edmonds of Jamakepe Investments
When, after four years, Conway had failed to deliver the promised profits, the Group ditched him as their representative and decided to join up with Parekh thus giving Parekh boardroom control. Three of the Investor group sold up their shares leaving only JAQ to look after the Jamakepe Hedge Fund's interests at Barnsley FC. That is why JAQ is here, no other reason.
I meant the culture of hardworking Barnsley people who demand certain principles such as hard work , value for money , honesty & straight John Bull with no Bull Sh-t , we give everyone & everybody all the time in the world as long they meet our values , that is our culture .
Yes we know that - and I agree on that.
My point is this - these foreign owners are no different to all the other foreign owners that have bought English football clubs.
They are here for the enjoyment and experience of the game.
They are not here to make money.
Patrick himself used to say something on the lines of - the quickest way to lose money is to buy a football club.
Conway and Lee arrived at Barnsley on the back of making a lot of money from OGC Nice
Bought OGC Nice for around £30 mill, sold to INEOS for around £80 mill
Made around £20 million from player trading at OGC Nice
SB - we know about Lee and Conway.
They came with a fanfare.
Supporters - some on here - warned us about them.
I was their biggest fan - as my thoughts at that time was ‘if the directors make money then the club will be doing well’.
Little did I know that they intended to spend none of their own money to make that happen.
When the facts change - I change my mind.
As far as JAQ goes.
What I can gather from what I have read and heard from her is this.
She and her husband threw some money in a pot.
I don’t think she had ever heard of Barnsley.
But because she had put some money in she started taking an interest and started watching games.
When she started visiting - I get the impression it’s opened up a new world to her that she didn’t know existed.
I’ve been there when she has been mingling with people during supporters meetings.
She is a woman of substance.
Would love the opportunity to interview her or just sit and chat to her.
There is a book there waiting to be written--
"JAQ--A Woman of Substance"
Ghost written by Young Nudger :P
The story of the wife of a New York Hedge Fund owner who came to an English Northern industrial town still suffering from the destruction of its main industry, coal mining, and fell in love with the place, and they fell in love with her. Read of her adventures slaying villains at the town's football club as she dragged it, in an outspoken and wacky style, into the modern football world, and also making it a global fashion centre.
"I couldn't put it down" the Times
"Young Nudger's finest work" the Guardian
"A load of baloney" SB of Tykes Mad
Humour is a personal taste thing Nudge.
I find your placing of the club hierarchy on a pedestal to be worshipped hilarious.
