If I was Everton I'd be holding out too. He is oneof their few saleable assets. I'd go 40 -50 max myself as I can't see anyone barring Chelsea paying more in this climate. I still can't get my head around how they can get away with spending what they have.

Ypu'd have thought that the commercial revenue, shirt sales etc will plummet for Man Yoo going forward now they are in decline but lets remember that these lads have won 2 cups in the last 2 years. I'd snap your hand off for that.

They are still, sadly a very strong brand. People who know nothing about football know the red filth brand. They don't care if they are winners or not. They don't know football at all.

So the marketing as a money making vehicle is established. Sure sponsors will get better deals as execs will argue they are not the power they were but they still have global reach.

Maybe Tomori is the best option, if we can get him at a fair price.

Are we basically saying that we're looking at 3 CBs capable of being first choice? And is it Schar who will bear the brunt of the inevitable rotation?

I think it may be a case of at some point Schar will become breakable… i’m sure there’s a Samuel L Jackson type somewhere bearing the brunt of all Schar’s ailments and injuries… maybe that’s Wilson’s role in the team? XD

Anyway, he really can’t go on forever, and it would be nice to give the lad a rest when he’s clearly playing through an injury

As class as Fab is, he's not getting any younger. We saw last season that our back line is slow as poison.

Tino & Hall speed thigs up in defence, Kelly will also boost the pace of the defensive line.

Lascelles is not good enough. We all agree with that.

Right now we have Schar & BDB as fit first team CBs. Kelly has plenty of pace & also plays there however he's a hybrid LB/LCB.

So we have Botman to come back & Lascelles will leave at the end of next season. Both unavailable until January depending on recovery schedules.

To evaluate our CB choices:

1 - Schar, quality but aging (right)
2 - Lasceles, limited needs to go (right)
3 - Krafth, limited, use in desperations (right)

Krafth is more a full-back, Lascelles is washed needs replacing, Schar is a legend, one of my favourite players but ain't getting any younger.
We absolutely need a top quality right footed, right sided CB with a high ceiling/world class potential to partner Botman long term.

4 - Botman, potential world class defender (left)
5 - BDB, a local legend but not a top 4 defender (left)
6 - Kelly, yet to prove himself in a B&W shirt (left)

When he's back to full fitness, Botman is the first choice. BDB is excellent cover and a great level. Brilliant leadership character, local hero. Love the lad to bits! Kelly offers that versatility we need whilst we build up to being a sustainable top 4 regular. So we're good for the left footed, left sided CB.

What we need is Botman's long term right sided CB partner.

Agree. You need 4 CBS. 2 LCB, and 2 RCB. LCB spot is sorted for next season in Burn and Kelly covering for Botman until hes back. RCB however is a week spot for us. Schar is number one, but we need someone to push him for a starting place.

Tomori for me would be an excellent signing, young but about to hit his prime, played in the premier league, absolute beast who didn't give us a sniff when we played Meelan.
And he's got nearly 150 appearances for AC who are no mugs when it comes to defenders.
He would be my no1 choice.
Would massively depend on the price however.
He would be in the England squad if he played in this country, therefore his price would rise.
