Where would we be without George?

Must say when I saw George was missing from the team today my heart sank a bit and, immediately, I thought my prediction of a 3-1 win was overly optimistic. Really hope the knock is not too serious and he will soon be available to secure our play off place. We will obviously need him at his best in our remaining games. I seem to remember during the MKD game he received a poor challenge from behind. I thought then he might need to be subbed, but he seemed to recover well and finish the match. However, it may have been the repercussions of that incident that kept him out of today’s game.

George Abbott has been the best young loan player we?ve had under The Bros in my opinion and the best since the likes of Yates, Grealish and McGregor.

In my view he is technically competent and has developed and grown and adapted to the physical side of the game very well. It was great seeing him against MK Dons have the confidence to hold the ball in our defensive third to draw in their players before releasing. His fitness, energy and pace in the press is beyond league two level. He scores incredible goals.

He has a bright future in the game and it will be interesting to watch how his career progresses after he leaves us. In the meantime hopefully his injury is not too bad and he?s able to help us in our quest for promotion.

As others have said I?d anticipate GA will be out on loan in the championship next season.

What we can hope for is that other premier league clubs recognise and see how well GA has progressed and developed whilst with us and give us the opportunity to take their star youngsters on a season long loan.

Another question - how do we replace him next season? Almost impossible not to be weaker in central mid, unless we pull another rabbit from the hat on loan.

It was a terrible challenge? pointless too. Yes George eventually got up, however, I can guarantee as soon as the boots came off and the adrenaline subsided the injury began too manifest.
Luckily he?s a young guy, so hopefully, if it?s bruised/twisted/sprained he should recover fully quickly.

According to Radio Nottm he was supposed to start on Saturday but on the morning of the match wasn't quite ready so should be OK for next match hopefully.
