Just playing devil's advocate here - and couldn't really care less about Kneecap and their attempts to shock for fame - but what if they were calling for people to go out and kill trans folks? Or women? Or ethnic minorities? Or all socialists? Is a call to kill someone acceptable directed at one group but not others?
I back hatred for all tories (and Reform and UKIP etc. etc.) but never to kill, even if said in jest or in irony. They could take some lessons from the likes of Public Enemy in effectively getting a message out through music.
But I don't really follow it closely enough to care about them or know the full is and outs of their messaging, but just curious.
Personally I would have chucked them off the bill based on the (non)quality of their music (and that's not me being mid-fifties and going blah bah blah this sort of music sucks - it is based on their music being p*sh)
Mozz recorded Margaret on the Guillotine in the 80s. It?s not one of his best but attacking Tories is nothing new.
It?s just an occupational hazard. If they didnt want abuse, they shouldnt have become Tories in the first place
I can't really argue with that.
The "only good tory is a dead tory" comment I can live with. That's OK and a sentiment shared by many. I just feel a call to kill your local MP is just a bit too far in my eyes. There's a lot of f**k wits out there who will take it literally, resulting in another Jo Cox or whoever the Es*** bloke was.
But, again. What if it was a right wing group of trump supporting yahoos calling for an uprising against the trans community. What would the reaction be to that?
And I'm really not having a go - I tend to agree with most of your politics. I am just curious if hate is OK towards some but not others depending on ones viewpoint and political leaning etc, or if it is easier to defend and condone people's comments when they mirror your own to some extent?
Personally, I just want to live in a world where people are people, and as long as they aren't c***s we repsect others views and choices even if we disagree - but where's the fun in that!
