I agree. Definitely a risk in that he has little to no experience, but if you're going to go for an inexperienced and risky coach anyway, he'd be an exciting and interesting choice.

You can't deny his pedigree. He was a fantastic footballer who offered something pretty unique for an English midfielder at that time. Plus, he was managed by one of the greats in Arsene Wenger. He'd certainly command respect based on that alone, in a way that Maynard never could. Great contacts in the game too.

If he were to do well, he'd be off to join a bigger club pretty fast I'd imagine. But that's the nature of the business.

Exactly, only 15 managers out of 92 clubs have surpassed 3 years.
One way or another, a manager is rarely going to be with us long.
As frustrating as it is to see managers leaving for bigger clubs, it?s a far better indication of our own trajectory than when we sack one.
Here?s hoping our next 5 managers leave us for bigger clubs!

They do seem to leave us pretty quickly though. I know they are in a different league both literally and financially, but teams like Wrexham and Stockport have kept managers through multiple promotions. Clough is still at Mansfield. The Cowleys stayed at Lincoln through two promotions and an epic FA Cup run. I don't see any of the teams promoted this season from L2 losing their managers to a bigger club this summer. Why is that?

The one time in my 35 years supporting the club that we've had sustained success was under Warnock, who stayed despite being successful and even turned down offers to join a bigger club. Fat Sam buggered off after one promotion. We somehow didn't retain Cotterill despite the miracles he worked in a short time. LW left six months after getting us promoted.

These things happen.

The Notts model is one that is mirrored further up the pyramid in that we have a head coach rather than manager. All of the managers you mention above are managers and will have a greater say in the day to day running of the club including transfers.
I?d also suggest that the way we play (despite the level we are at) is one that would seem attractive to clubs higher up the pyramid. Clough has done OK higher up, but also had failures. My instinct is that Parkinson will be sacked at Wrexham this season once the owners realise his style of play will get butchered in The Championship.

In the last 15 years we've had 23 management teams (and 25 individuals), if you include caretakers. Most of those we have fired or replaced.

Cannot be too surprised if managers jump before they are pushed, given that record.

Simon Weaver at Harrogate has outlasted them all - plus an additional 5(!) Notts management teams on top, since his appointment in May 2009.

It's pretty wild that Maynard got more games than John Barnwell, Jocky Scott, Martin Allen and Keith Curle, amongst others, before they got the sack.

True. We tend to employ young, up-and-coming types who want to play "attractive" football. Those coaches are likely more attractive higher up the pyramid than old-school managers, if they do well.

I agree re Parkinson. I get the feeling the Wrexham owners and even the fans have been waiting for an opportunity to move on, but he amazingly just hasn't given them the opportunity to sack him without it looking ridiculous. His style will get found out this season. It will also be the first season since the takeover that they aren't able to blow other clubs out the water financially. I expect he'll be sacked by Christmas with them lower midtable.

He left for a bigger club and loads more money so who can blame him. Macca did the same and everyone would welcome him back. He got sacked at Swansea so what loyalty did hr not show? Our defence last season was an utter joke and I do wonder how he'd do with this seasons defence.

It looks like Didzy has decided to "end his career" at MK Plastics for one last pay day. He's still a Notts legend but it would leave a bad taste!

Having said that I'm not one to bringing back ex players or managers XD

Very good points here and Warnock one is the interesting one he did a tremendous job for us and what was his reward when we hit a blip ?

He got sacked that is why 99% of managers will go if offered more money that isn?t just league two clubs it is the same in the top divisions around the world.

My theory on those staying at clubs like Stockport is they are being paid big money which not many would be prepared to match and also style of play does come into it as if a championship club wants you just lumping it long and trying to latch onto second balls is not a desired style, I?m not saying it won?t work to a degree but remember lots of clubs owners in the top 2 leagues are foreign so are not brought up or want that style.

Basically go out sell yourself to as an example to Evatt and see where that takes you but appointing him is only part of the jigsaw you still need good players too !
