I've been on the fence about Maynard most of the season, but after these last few fames, I feel like we're going nowhere with him in charge. It's time for a change.
That said, there are factors out of his control that have made this season a challenge:
- Selling Macca and Nemane in the summer, and then Crowley in the Jan window, and not properly replacing any of them.
- Jones being injured most of the season, and everyone else being injured at some point as well.
Recruitment has been poor, and for the first time I think the bros "find them and sell them on" approach has backfired - at least if progress on the pitch is indeed the priority. We've solved the defensive issue but replaced it with perhaps a harder one to fix. Is that Maynard's fault? Yes and no. But it's clear from these two playoff games that he's not up to it tactically.
