It was over 30 years ago too, but I wouldn't have guessed he played that many times. How tall was Martin Taylor? Always seemed shortish for a keeper.

This is the old question 'would the good uns from time gone by cope with the modern game?' Obviously, it's unanswerable but imo if you've got it then you've got it whichever generation you belong to. You adapt to the needs of the day using your god given skills and being part of the current regime.
With reference to small keepers Les Green was no goliath but his strengths revolved around his ability to read the developing play. He was also the first goalie I saw who was the first line of attack.
Of course it won't!! But failing to udnerstand the English language, thats a new one, for some reason you flipped, probably not enough Dutch courage.
Well I for one have never seen or heard a coach, pundit, player or indeed anyone in the game use a 1 before a formation, because the goalie is always there, doesn't move his position and therefore its pointless *******s!!
When we were in the PL last I reckon we played 1 at the back
