And yet their record at OSC Nice is sound and have recently opened a brand new state of the art academy .

If the new ownership can maximise the land to create money coming into the club then wouldn't that be a good and sound business model rather than the land stood idle and full of weeds ?

If that land enabled us to keep our better players rather than having to sell them to championship rivals and bear the fruits of our labour instead of Aston Villa wouldn't that be a good thing too ?

I'm not certain what you mean about coming out on top , would doubling your investment also be classed as venture capitalism coming out on top ?

Tha knows perfectly well that forra venture capitalist "coming out on top" means mekkin as much money as possible compared to what thaz purrin. Does tha really believe those profits will be diverted to club finances?

I don't recognise the 31 acres around Oakwell being a derelict area full of weeds. Three large car parks, Council Offices, roads, several training pitches and landscaped areas are what I see as being prime land for development.

I'm sure the Nice complex will be part of a Mediterranean tourist complex which, great as Barnsley is, will not have the same attraction here.

I most definitely know what a venture capitalist is but sometimes they can be confused for custodian's .

Looking at the scale of their business empire I've concluded that whilst there is revenue to be gained from maximising the land to help towards funding a football club there isn't enough fat on the meat to interest a billion dollar company .

Yes I think their idea is sound and to the clubs benefit .

I don't envisage it affecting the training and academy complex or the car parking , the land between the back of the east stand and Pontefract Road isn't going to affect too much footballing wise in my opinion .

Am not sure if tha tekkin the p1ss or playing devil's advocate Animal but a can't believe sumdi wi thy background can really believe what tha writing abart the benevolent capitalist not really interested in the profit but more concerned about benefitting the club and community. Stand up Mister Lee, the new Titus Salt.

The Nice training facilities will be surrounded by hotels, golf courses, swimming pools, etc with the football club being allocated sessional time alongside the tourists. Can't see the model working darn Ponte Rooad.

Watford had backing and Burnley had massive parachute payments to subsidise their promotion bids. I think that puts a different complexion on it.

I take your point on things being run different now but it's still a gamble. I just think looking at the bigger picture the gamble isn't worth taking. To tell you the truth mate I don't really know what to think. Information and communication would be nice. There's a lot of uncertainty and this must've been the ump****th thread that we've all been speculating or weighing up the pros and cons of this so called takeover. I just want it sorted to be honest. There's bugga all we can do about it if/when it finally happens anyrooard

They want to invest in the academy, they see that as the way forward. That's why they built a new one at Nice.

Azza sed in Post 44 the Nice training complex will just be part of a whole leisure/tourist complex on the Mediterranean coast. It will be surrounded by money-making hotels, golf courses, water sports lakes, swimming pools/aqua areas etc. The tourists will use the indoor facilities on a sessional basis with Nice FC have use of some parts of the area a couple of hours a day. Mega dollars to be made there from Chinese tourists with no interest in football.

Titus Salt was a capitalist who made loads of money too , instead of exploitation he used his assets effectively in a labour friendly way , it's a good comparison , anything he built for his workers had profit in mind , he didn't do it out of charity that's for sure .

Your going off in a remarkable number of different directions to justify your stance against this takeover SB , it doesn't fit from your normal common sense approach and a resistance to knee jerk narratives , I don't know who is the most surprised , you in me or vice versa ?

Anyone who strays away from their core business and invests is a venture capitalist , Patrick Cryne is a venture capitalist and so is Mr Lee .

The trick here is to judge the consortium on their own merits and by pass the stigma normally associated with foreign owners and football .

They have a football club on their CV , it's a success with an emphasis on developing talent , their new facility is the clue .

Billy Beane and our plan is another clue , they haven't promised to move mountains here and bank roll us to the max .

The land costs the club £100k a year to rent , why not utilise that asset and bring income in , although selling young talented footballers to our competitors seems to be a viable business plan , maybe that's why Mr Lee is the billionaire and our previous owners weren't .
