Mitrovic

Sometimes football players as young as Mitro is and as fiery as he is, just need some perseverance and building up to allow them to mature enough to bypass quick tempered mistakes.
Played regularly in the correct way would see a massive upturn in fitness and stamina with more added spring to his step and ultimately a potential goal fest.

You're hardly going to get that by thinking keeping him in the cold after a few iffy games, some of which are more of a witch hunt by pundits rather than violence by himself.

Defenders hate Mitrovic type of players and his presence gives us more advantages than disadvantages 99% of the time.
And here we are looking at players that I don't think can lace his boots.

I'm desperately trying to follow the logic here. We have a player who, whatever we think about him, is regarded by our manager as useless or otherwise not fit to be played, but we cannot sell him to a relegation rival because he might, after all, turn out to be useful and score goals that might relegate us. So we can sell him only to a foreign club but if no foreign club wants to buy him he stays with us, using up some of the wage bill.


They say you have to gamble and buying or getting on loan any striker would be a gamble so I say selling Mitro is no more of a gamble than this.

This might help mate.

It doesn't help because I don't accept the logic of the previous posts. If Mitrovic is useless, full stop, he's equally useless to other clubs as he is to NUFC. In fact it could be an advantage if another relegation rival bought and played him because they'd be using a player who is not good enough either because he misses chances and/or his disciplinary record. If he were potentially useful to other clubs then presumably he'd be useful to NUFC and get a game sometime.

It's not really a point of logic mate, it's more about probability. The claim I'm making in the previous posts is that a player can be both terrible AND negatively impact upon our club from the outside, and because of that there's a risk to letting any player join a rival, no matter how bad. For instance, if we sold Mitro to Brighton, and his only contribution in a Brighton shirt was falling over in the box at the exact moment the ball was coming to him, and it rebounds off his arse to go in as the goal that relegates us, you can't say, "Well that's why Rafa should have kept him, he'd have done that for us!" That's simply unknowable. And if he stays, and doesn't play, he'll contribute nothing of any real value to our struggle for survival (at least on the pitch). The only way to introduce certainty into the equation is to not sell him to a rival. If he doesn't play in our league, he can't relegate us; end of discussion.

Now, as it happens, I don't think Mitrovic is terrible, and I've never said he is, so, there's no logical inconsistency in what I'm saying at all. What I've been saying is that Rafa clearly doesn't intend to play him, and that's why he should be sold - to free up some cash to bring in players who'll actually kick a ball for us. But, like Rafa, I don't think it's worth risking selling him to a relegation rival, unless it's for a ridiculous sum of money. Why a ridiculous sum of money? Well, because for a ridiculous sum of money you can (theoretically) buy someone who is really good, and that would mitigate any bad joojoo from selling one of your players to a relegation rival. Again, in theory. It can't be known, since there are expensive flops.

You can make a logical case for what will happen on a football pitch all you want, but because football isn't some internally consistent logical space - it involves unpredictability and irrationality. So I just don't buy the idea that whatever he can do for Club A he can do for Club B. If he never plays for Club B, that's clearly not going to happen in reality, even if it's logically true.

It wasn't blatant at all and far from violent.
Lanzini made a massive meal of it but unfortunately Mitrovic's card was always marked for any misdemeanour whilst nothing gets done about the batterings he takes.
Not to mention his very own fans have now turned on him because uncle Rafa is the new kid on the block who can do no wrong.
Mitro's on fire, your defence is terrified.

People forget what this young lad is capable of if treated right.
Loves the club as well.

What a shame we have a manager that's allowed to destroy him.
