To be a little honest here Australia had the best world cup ever when they had I think his name is Hendrik as a manager in 6 months he turned them into a power house and he was a very hard training manager. We should have been in the final and would have won it but for a cheating referee who gave Italy a dodgy penalty. Was in the Kewell Viduka Bosnich era.
The only difference was it was a short time and he moved on don't know if the players could have handled it as a team week in week out.

Gus Hiddink was the man from The Netherlands.

This is the hard part of staying in the prem for any length of time.

Bamford's always been fragile and he's not getting any younger. It's time to move on. He's solid when he plays but if you play 25% of the time and take up a roster spot that could be used for someone that's nearly as competent yet plays 80%+ of the time it's kind of a no brainer. Nothing personal, just business.

Other teams think the same way so the high risk aspect of acquiring someone already established is that they may be trying to do the same thing. we won't get any where near his worth for Bamford since he's been injured much of the last 3 seasons. He's the opposite of Dallas or Alioski. You get the feeling those guys played unless a bone was sticking out.

It's also why I like the championship player promotions so much. Lg 1 and the Championship are hard physical leagues. They know the grind and know how to play with pain.

The "suprise teams" often seem to have some key players that were picked up from the Championship, as well as internally developed. WHU, Leicester, Crystal Palace and Brentford come to mind. All have some high priced stars but much of the core of the team were not "bought" like some of the other teams do.

Sorry Spaldy, he was injured first season and obviously this one, two seasons in between he played almost every game (as a starter, not a sub).

Much if what you say was said about Hernandez, and I'd still have him back compared to any if those brought into the midfield as replacements (because they aren't very good), managing his time and condition as any club should.

Yes that is him he trained them so hard they were falling over but boy did he have them ready for the finals no other side could match us for fitness. We made Italy look like a league 1 club team till the ref stepped in:( Hey I got the letter H right in his name so my brain works a little :p

I forgot about 2 full seasons. My bad. However, do think he's on the fragile side. Might not have been if he had not played so incredibly hard for 2 full season (as well as training).

I do hate the international thing. almost a curse to have a player picked for that duty. No rest and injuries pretty common.

Other players also often get into their heads about the grass being greener on the other side and how much better they'd be doing if they jumped ship.
