Would agree to most of that bar LW being the same as IB if he had come in then. 2 different tempos.

I agree, I was thinking yesterday about Roberts and as good as some of his moments were I don’t think he ever pushed on from that initial burst. He wasn’t as good as Ruben in ‘that’ position, he didn’t work hard enough to be a winger or wide of a front three - often leaving us exposed - and he often drifted in and out of games. Perhaps LW would have found the answer but I suspect he would have got injured before we ever found out.
As for IB, I think he’s done alright keeping FGR as close to safety as they are. Not sure what their fans expected to be honest, L1 is a really tough division. Even Allardyce’s team struggled in that first season back. If IB keeps them up this year that will be a big success and gives the possibility to push on next year….has he got the minerals to motivate a team in a relegation scrap though? My instincts say no, and his foray into the higher leagues could be short lived.
Even by his own admission his favourite part of the week is spent on the training pitch which always baffled me….he is a good coach, but to be successful as manager/head coach I think you must have that man management/motivation ability….I don’t think he has that.
This. I've never understood why people post on threads saying they aren't interested in the thread. Burchnall gave us a footballing base but was miles away on pressing, aggression, defending plus alot of areas of attacking including transitions and actually putting the ball in the box. Wootton would have scored more under LW who stated in his post match that Notts work really hard on putting the ball into the box from all directions.
We all knew what Burchnalls weaknesses were as was written on here again and again by just about everyone. Pretty football only gets you so far, it's the other side of the game that wins you titles. I wouldn't mind if he got sacked at FGR, I think in his interviews at Notts, when questioned on the above issues, he was quite condescending and obviously thought he knew better.
When we got LW, alot of people in football said he was a great coach and they were looking forward to seeing how he got on at Notts. We're seeing now what they meant.
People posting on threads they say they aren't interested has been around since as long as I can remember on here#viva
I would hope he did feel he knew a lot more than Charlie Slater when asked a question. Never came across as condescending to me more defensive, which I've seen countless times with past managers.
I always thought IBs interviews were more interesting and enlightening than NAs, they certainly were in a tactics sense. And tbh both were light years ahead of the some of rabble we heard previous.
As a man, I prefer IB to NA, if only for the former not putting on a nice guy act, but there were a lot of similarities between them and with the passage of time it's becoming increasingly difficult to remember them as separate entities, as if they were a duo in the Murphy Thompson mould, they're merging into one extended bad dream of being locked in a basement somewhere with only a fidget spinner for entertainment.
