Cambridge player down .

The two compliment one another very well or at least they did last night .

The improvement in that midfield is down to whether Russell can do more out of possession and absolutely nothing to do with Herbie Kane who is already doing a shift and a half .

Thank goodness for your comments Animal , I thought I was slowly going mad thinking I was the only one that sees what Kane brings to the team , I am no expert on the game & my opinions often differ from others but I pride myself on being able to spot a decent player & what he brings to the team & Kane is a decent player & is a big asset in this league . Many years ago we had a player called Ray McHale who has many similarities to Kane , he also did the hard yards for Glavin & Banks but his main asset was that he was a footballer , he would always look to pass or keep possession even if it meant playing back or sideways but he would also look for the killer pass & would sometimes look foolish when some of the luxury players did not look for space or make themselves available to receive the ball , but the lad could play & we were a better team when he was in it & likewise the same with Kane & if we are to progress we need that bit of quality such as Kane brings , however we have had & always will have fans who prefer the headless chickens instead of the footballers , the Billy Ronsons of this world who will run about all day but achieve very little , any way thankfully I think my sanity is intact , cheers Animal.

I remember Ray McHale very well Shad and Glav and Banksy would not have done the damage they did without reliable Ray covering their asses .

Ray was probably the most underrated player in that superb team of the early 80's .

This game is as much about what you do without the ball as with it .

Which is why Johnny boy is in league one and no longer at Chelsea .

Didn't Ray McHale wear the number 10 shirt then, when a so called 'number 10 player' wasn't as relevant as what it is apparently now.
I've always thought Daz Norman Sheridan went under rated when he grafted for Neil Redfearn, and Gwyn Thomas did it as well for Steve Agnew. 👍

He falls into the Billy Ronson category for me SB , popular with the fans because he always put a shift in charging about here there & everywhere , however his first touch , vision & passing ability was limited to say the least, at the time he played with us for me he brought energy but very little else.

He was poor going forward and being creative but his role was The Albino Destroyer protecting the back four and picking up the pieces. Very rarely do you get both. Brendan O'Connell, now you're talking. >;)

We used to call him Brazilian Brendon, a likeable player who always gave his all , you were never quite sure what was going to happen when he got on the end of things but he sure was a trier sprinkled with talent , wish he was in our current team.

Pocket Rocket Perkins as Keith Hill once said :D He weren't blessed with natural ability but a tell thi nar, the weren't a player av sin worked harder than him. Butterfield thrived laikin alongside him.
