O'Shea completely crap again

The football is better Sinky,its just the silly schoolboy passing mistakes that we are making every game. Pro footballers should be able to pass a ball to another player without selling him short.

They all do it Alfie, if you play this way, it will happen, it's why Newcastle's keeper can't get into the England squad. The difference is, if a top team cocks up and gives a goal away, they can go down the other end and get it back, we can't, it costs us points.

Excellent posts, sinkov, and telling it exactly the way it is. Fans criticising the style of football now because we aren't winning, however, they were all for it last season when we used to get away with a lot of the 'dodgy' play from the back.
Different league now and, with quite a changed team from last season, the players are still learning. However, the manager insists that they play this way and those that don't will get short shrift from him, fans need to get used to the ongoing development, which could well see us relegated, and realise that the game is changing all the time.
I have to admit that, football at the top level is becoming very boring with less and less contact, players being cautioned for fair tackles, officials being instructed to adhere to some strange directives, plsu the dreaded VAR etc., etc.
Thank goodness for Ashington AFC.

Dycheball v VKBall is an interesting one.

We've scored goals both ways this season. Foster V Luton, Odobert v Chelsea, Foster v Spurs... good examples of nice passing goals. Then the first two v Sheff Utd long ball and ball over the top.

How many have we conceded trying to play out from the back - loads. It's this risk v reward thing that is punishing us currently.

Personally i'm all for the journey. It has to be better than the staleness of the last regime.

With the last regime we would have got a point at Molineux, with no problem whatsoever, because we would not have conceded such a totally unnecessary goal. It's bonkers.

Interesting thought BT. Sean won 2 and drew 2 against Wolves in The Championship scoring 5 and conceding 2.
He lost his first match against them in the PL 0-1, however, we then won 3 and drew 3 scoring 10 and conceding 3.
Strangely, we played Wolves just 9 days after Sean was sacked and beat them 1-0, this was the third consecutive game that Wolves failed to score against us ----it should have been 4 on Tuesday night!

Following the 5-0 win over the Blades O'Shea was in about FIVE EPL teams of the week.

It's hard to understand how a player can go from brilliant to crap in the space of only 72 hours. :confused:

I think you can see VK is adapting towards this. Noticeably more long balls and clearing lines in recent games. Even Amazon pre-match analysis picked up on that. But it's just the balance, and the ability to execute that riskier passing game.

Following last Saturdays pasting at Burnley I imagine most folk expected a similar outcome for Sheffield United against Liverpool last night. Presumably Chris Wilder told his Defenders to blast the ball ball upfield or out of play at every opportunity. May not be pretty but it was effective and kept the score respectable. At least if the ball is in the other Teams half there is less chance of them scoring. Desperate tactics maybe but like us Sheffield United are also in a desperate position. Perhaps VK should pay more attention to clear the lines at this moment in time. Every goal the opposition score means we have to score more than them to gain 3 points. Scoring goals with the exception of last Saturday is something we struggle to do. What a mess!
