I don't always post my disagreements O:)

And totally ignoring his motm display which included a very unique free kick that took some balls at that stage of the game. Facts are if you put a penalty down the centre and high I would say their hardly ever saved, he missed it. Those types of penalties just have a stigma against them when they are saved or missed, as it’s seen as showboating by some, if someone hits a half arsed one to one of the corners and it’s saved they don’t get anywhere near the same stick.
Not a popular opinion I know but I thought Scotts Pen at Wembley was one of the worst taken & could/should have been saved, there was no one more relieved & pleased for him than me but it was weak & poor whereas JBs was only an inch off being perfect, at the end of the day what does it matter we made it. For some reason, even thinking about that day at Wembley makes me shudder. It was 99% a mixture of unbearable stress and despair and about 1% pure joy and relief. I still to this day cannot believe we won a penalty shoot out to gain promotion, and when I watch the highlights back, I'm convinced Scott will miss and that I imagined it all.
Weirdly, when I think back to the Boreham Wood game, it's the opposite - I just remember the complete and utter joy and relief. Easily my favourite Notts game ever, but in reality, that was mostly stress and despair as well.
Football eh.
Same here, I can remember looking at the stadium timer at 85 mins in utter despair ! How quickly things change!
Also agree with you about BW, that match just seems to be bathed in glorious sunlight in my memory. I do laugh when I watch the BT highlights rerun though, before our second goal you can see two blokes plodding their way out to the Iremonger Rd exit between the Pavis and Kop, they missed one of the (emotionally) best goals for a long time at ML!
Yeah, for some reason, it's a joy to rewatch the BW highlights but uncomfortable to rewatch the Wembley ones. The BW game just felt better. That Baldwin equaliser - I can't even put into words what that felt like, but it was a bigger relief somehow than Scott's penalty that sent us up.
I think part of it is that I just enjoy the ML experience more than the Wembley one. I felt quite detached from the action at Wembley, and even with 25,000 Notts fans, the stadium makes you feel tiny. Also, that season was so intense and stressful that once the penalty went in to win it, I felt completely drained by it all as well as happy/relieved.
