I hope it's much more than that.
McGoldrick is our most accomplished player, but this could well be his last season. We have to maximise what he has left to offer, not squander it.
Last season, it was mismanaged because we burned him out early. The same age as JOB, but with far more miles on the clock, he was treated as if he was 26, not 36. And then when our patterns of play broke down, we asked him to battle big CBs for 100+ long diagonal high balls. Even so, he still finished with 10+ goals
I don't know what the problem is in making him a regular starter at inside-left but take him off after 65-70 mins like we always did with JOB. And then rest him completely every 5th league game or so. Occasionally, bring him off the bench.
The last 2 years of Didzy's career doesn't have to be 1) burnt out and overused 2) underused. There has to be a much better way of getting the most out of the only Prem level talent we've got.
