I have no idea and little opinion on Khan’s ability as Mayor of London. What I do know is that a) London is not the only place to be attempting to improve air quality. b) Being less well off doesn’t provide an entitlement to drive dirty, pollution creating vehicles. c) Johnson is a proven, habitual liar who is completely lacking in integrity (fact not opinion)...why would such a person even be considered for such a position. He’s an embarrassment and what would it say about the modern Tory Party if they’d ever approve him for public office again?
And Khan isn't? XD
As I recall, Johnson did quite a lot of good as London mayor. His dopey character was good for the image as well.
If you think Khans attempts at air quality improvement, is'nt nothing more than an assault on the poor, then you need to redifine your politics RA.
The congestion charge is bad enough, but ULEZ hits everyone for a car older than 5 years. YET you can drive it, so long as you cough up money into Khans coffers.
Meanwhile this is a man who travels around in Range rovers and a Jaguar V8 to drive 4 miles to walk his dogs. Doesn't sound very working mans Labour representative to me.
Johnson as mayor is about his level. He did a damned better job of it, than this slime ball.
As one of the people on here with a little skin in the game regarding ULEZ, I have to whole heartedly throw my support behind Khan on this point. The bigger issue of controlling / reducing oil based pollution is much greater than any individual's entitlement to drive a knackered old vehicle spewing ****e into the atmosphere.
If you want to drive in London (and do people really NEED to given the much maligned but still excellent nature of public transport) then it comes at a cost. Simples. It's a question of personal choice. Can't afford it - then **** off, fit your lifestyle to your budget and don't selfishly bollox the environment for anyone else. Noone has a right to do that.
As I said Tricky...I don’t know enough about either London or Khan to judge, but few people justify the description of ‘slime ball’ more than Johnson.
I doubt very much that Khan has ever indulged in an ‘assault on the poor’ although I understand your charge of apparent hypocrisy.
Beyond that...see you’re back to your deflecting best...trying to turn the ‘Careless Tories’ thread into an attack on Khan while turning a blind eye to Johnson’s proven wrong doing...again.
On the subject of which why are you still banging on about Johnson since he is no longer a Tory MP and so can't be a careless Tory. Please stick to the topic and stop deflecting...m
People talk about Thatcher 30 years on so I think Johnson a few days on is fair game.
That Robert Peel, huh? Said he had no plans to repeal the corn laws, yet, come 1846 he was all over them and they were abolished. Bloody liar, it was as if the Tamworth Manifesto had never existed
