And having a go at teachers because they don't do a physical job and calling them snowflakes is something worthy of the Daily Mail.

I agree with you to an extent as it's not an easy job in any way. My mum was a teacher for 40 years in schools in deprived areas of Glasgow and I can assure you she ain't no snowflake! I think the problem is the sense of entitlement, this is possibly down to their strong unions but it doesn't come across well.

Many teachers have been working remotely, or not at all while supermarket/shop workers have been working in very close proximity to people who refuse to wear masks throughout the pandemic. Personally I think these folk and delivery drivers are as much the heroes of this pandemic as teachers/police etc.

The number i obsess over most just now is the daily cases, and obviously the cases/100k from that. The daily figures as January departed and February arrived were coming down quite quick and steady and we started the month with a daily figure of 758, but the 7 day average was 1041. By the end of the first week, we were into the 800s, but the daily cases and averages remained stubbornly in the 800s until this week. As we go into the last day of the month, my fingers are crossed that there has been a significant and positive change!

Not seeing enough change in the vaccination figures to justify keeping this going, for which im sure some will be glad of!

I suppose the lack of significant change each day is because its only around 30k vaccines a day in the main Cohort that includes 1m people of ages 16-64, so fingers crossed things are doubled soon.

Its worth remembering what started this debate in the first place and its the sense of entitlement of the teaching unions that their members should be allowed to skip the Q because they are special.
My only problem with that is it could derail the vaccine rollout in Scotland and lead to more deaths in higher age groups because 25 year old teachers with no underlying health conditions were prioritised for vaccine's they do not require just now.
That's WTF i am talking about.

As have said before young lass is a teacher and she agrees older and more vulnerable should get vaccine before her she says other teachers she knows agrees also .So not all teachers think they should skip queue think it is more the union that think they are special.Older and more vulnerable teachers will get treated earlier like everyone else.

100% agree with the above and very glad its from a teachers father,i of course have no problem with teachers but have never had much time for the EIS,my memory is shocking but i will always remember the first i ever knew about the unions in childhood was being on unofficial holidays from school due to the EIS.

As the husband of a member of support staff who is not an EIS member, i would like to see all school staff vaccinated.

And the EIS is not the only union who is trying to make the case for this. Various police unions and federations are putting their cases forward.

The thing is though, the ones we rarely hear a voice from are the Taxi Drivers, Bus Drivers, Shop Workers. and it is us who should start to shout if things change and they are forgotten about.

As to slowing things down, i have my doubts on that as Cohort 6 that is being dealt with just now, i believe quite rightly doubled in size overnight to include carers and their immediate families, and i expect some of these are harder to identify than lists that are sitting in HR departments.

I have always said that bus and especially taxi drivers were at much higher risk than teachers and it would be interesting to see the death rates between these groups of workers.
Its possible i'm way off the mark but i think many more drivers than teachers have contracted the virus in their working environment,i would also say that factory,call centre and other office workers were also at a higher risk than those in the teaching profession.

I also agree with you that other staff in schools are just as important to the country including cleaners,dinner ladies and support staff.This is the problem though we can probably make a case for millions of workers to be prioritised but this would lead to major problems with the overall vaccine programme which is why they are doing it by age or vulnerability.

There are also electricians joiners plumbers etc who have to enter peoples home business's hospitals etc to do work.Who is going to say a teacher should be vaccined before any of them?Think every person would have to fill in a form to say why they should jump the queue which would only lead to longer waits.The way they are doing it is probably the fairest but not perfect people like me getting it before others who are at more risk through there work or fitness etc is not Ideal but think they have went for best they can to safe those most in danger of death.
