The perpetual challenge of making money has got the better of me Alf. I'm a greedy barsteward and the grandkids all want to go to Disney USA when this lockdown is finally lifted. Hey Ho, it's back to work I go!

The amazingly perceptive and talented English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, somehow managed to predict the 2020 Tory economic corona virus policy as early as 1821.
“To him that hath, more shall be given; and from him that hath not, the little that he hath shall be taken away,” as Rishi Sunak now tells us the much heralded and very necessary for millions furlough money is now being slashed at source.
The nasty party in full bloom.
All well and good BT, however, you are of an age when you should be retired, however, you are going back to work, therefore, you are taking employment that could be taken by a young person who has no job.
By your own actions, you are confirming what Shelley said in that you have and more shall be given and the poor young lad who has not has lost the opportunity to better himself --and all because your grandchildren want to go to Disney USA.
Socialism at its best! >:)
I was trying to lighten the mood and was a bit tongue in cheek Supersub6. There is not a "kid" on the planet who could do my job. It requires, respect, empathy, experience and a brilliant ability to "manipulate the truth".
I have given my kids enough money to go to any Disneyland anywhere in the world six times over. Now I'm starting on the grandkids!
Incidentally, the company I work for has a policy of recruiting young people and giving them a real opportunity. One or two have been brilliant and are now in senior management jobs, but few seem to have the nous or experience to develop new business.
During this lockdown I have been approached several times to get back in the saddle with new companies, but my company have offered me the chance to mentor one or two of our bright young things and I'm more than happy to do that.
You enjoy your retirement and stop judging those of us who wish to tread a different path? >;)
I do enjoy my retirement and I wasn't judging you ---I was merely making an observation to the point you made with the help of Shelley. I do not judge, I merely observe and comment when it amuses me ---so you did lighten the mood ---whether by choice or not.
Remember that those who think that they are indispensable should put their hand in a bucket full of water --the hole that is left when they take it out shows just how indispensable they are.
Also, the world's graves are full of indispensables, hence a good reason to enjoy retirement.
Enjoy your mentoring because it is obviously what you want to do ---and stop judging we that wish to tread the retirement path. ;D
My ma had a saying for every situation Supersub6. In this case, "Each to their own!"
Quite simply I'm as fit as a fiddle and love what I do! This new Porsche is bloody expensive to run too!
It's all about looking forward to the day when you get up.If it's work then fine, for me in the latter years it wasn't.In my job though I came across one or two who were worth millions, but they would never spend it,they just wanted to keep going until they died. One who was worth a couple of million went bust 2 or 3 years later, but he was unbelievably relaxed about it,just shrugged his shoulders and said he'd start again which he did. When he eventually had to give up he sold his business to Tarmac,he told me once "I just love the hassle,I don't do holidays or weekends I'd be bored stiff".As you say "Each to their own".
'' This new Porsche is bloody expensive to run too!''.........Ah ! B T, so you have been doing stand up comedy in those underground sordid nightclubs down Bolton and Manchester way?
Like I said, the Tories are revolting.

(Like the link Sinkov?) ;D
One thing that I am confused about is, when the quarantine laws finally come in for visitors to the UK, why are people arriving from France not included? They have the fourth highest total of deaths in the world.
And I am struggling to see why Ireland has a free pass too. You could argue that it is because they have a land border with us, but most countries in the world have land borders with other countries, but it doesn't stop them imposing restrictions. Perhaps they don't want the issue of a hard border in Ireland to be raised again?
Anyone fancy a stab at an answer?
